After breaking out with Frontiere(s), many wondered whether French director Xavier Gens was a bit of a one trick pony when his Hollywood debut, Hitman, underperformed. Now he’s going smaller and more intense again, with the rather intriguing The Divide, in which eight strangers take refuge in the fallout shelter of an apartment building, moments before NYC above them is decimated. However while cramped and uncomfortable, at least they have food and seem safe, until, that is, guys in HAZMAT suits turn up and start shooting people. But why are they killing the surivors and can the eight strangers stay alive? The movie has only recently gone into production, but Gens has produced a rather intense teaser showing the pandemonium as people try to escape priot to the end of New York. Milo Ventimiglia, Rosanna Arquette and Laren German star in The Divide, which is due out next year. Click below to take a look.
New Megamind Trailer – Will Ferrell gets his CG super-villain on
Although there’s been a previous teaser trailer for Megamind, it didn’t really tell us much about the movie. However this new trailer is far more meaty, suggesting the film might not be as bad as the previous promo suggested. Dreamworks Animation’s CG flick stars Will Ferrell as a criminal mastermind who defeats his nemesis, Metro Man (Brad Pitt). However with nobody around to try and stop his evil plans, Megamind falls into despair, as everything’s become far too easy. To try and spice up his life he creates a new rival, Titan (Jonah Hill). The only problem is that Titan wants to be a supervillain too, and Megamindmay be the only person who can stop him! Click below for the new trailer. The film reaches the UK on December 3rd.
Rio Trailer – The makers of Ice Age go tropical with a flight-challenged parrot
After spending several years getting very chilly with Ice Age, the makers of those movies have decided to head somewhere a bit warmer for their next film, Rio, about a small-town American cage parrot called Blu. He thinks he’s the last of his kind, but when he discovers there’s another of his special out there somewhere, he head off to Brazil to find her. However it’s not exactly love at first sight and Blu has a lot to learn, not least, as this trailer shows, how to fly. The film is due out next spring, but click below to watch the trailer.
Going The Distance Trailer – First look at the Drew Barrymore and Justin Long long distance rom-com
While both Drew Barrymore and Justin Long can be very entertaining actors, there’s little doubt when it comes to rom-coms, they’ve both been in more than their fair share of duff ones. However you’d hope that as they are/were (depending what day you read this) lovers in real life, they should be able to spark chemistry if they appear together in a film. Well, while I know I must reserve judgement, going on the evidence of this trailer, I don’t think Going The Distance will join the pantheon of romantic comedy greats. Long and Barrymore play a couple who discover having a long-distance relationship is far tougher than they expected (especially as they seem prone to getting into endless embarassing situations). The film is currently scheduled for release in the UK on September 10th, but click below for the trailer.
The A-Team Film Clip – And the insanity continues with parachuting tanks
There’s little doubt that the more we see of The A-Team Movie, the more insane it looks. Although we’ve seen in previous trailers and TV spots, brief snippets of the nuttiness of Bradley Cooper deciding to shoot down a drone, while he’s a tank that’s just fallen from an exploding airplane (I think we can safely say realism will not be The A-Team’s greatest strength), IGN has debuted a minute long clip from the sequence, in which we discover BA Baracus is so cool, he doesn’t even now the plane exploded. Click below to take a look. The A-Team will be in UK cinemas on July 28th.
Buried Motion Poster – Incredibly cool new mo-po for the claustrophobic Ryan Reynolds flick
The people behind Buried got a lot of praise for the simple but effective poster you can see to your left (click on it for a larger version), and now they’ve released a motion poster version over at Yahoo Movies, which you can view below! The film is about a contractor in Iraq (Ryan Reynolds) who is kidnapped and held hostage. He wakes up in a cramped underground coffin and has to spend most of the running time trying to escape, before his air runs out. The intriguing film is currently scheduled for UK release on October 8th, when we’ll be able to see whether it can make its confined setting worth watching for a full 90 minutes. However before then you can see the motion poster below.
