It’s difficult to know what to think about Dinner For Schmucks, as it seems to be a comedy about how cruel it would be for rich people to hold dinners where the challenge is to bring the biggest idiot they can find so they can laugh at them, while the whole of the film is largely based on laughing at idiots. So is it only wrong if rich people do it? Hoepfully the film itself will explain things better when it arrives in UK cinemas on August 20th. Steve Carell stars as one of those idiots, with Paul Rudd the man who reluctantly takes him to the dinner. Zach Galifianakis, Jermaine Clement, Lucy Lunch and David Walliams also star. Click below for the new trailer, which suggests the film is either going to be hilarious, or a complete disaster. You decide which.
Get Him To The Greek – The First Five Minutes – See Russell Brand singing and giving birth
Get Him To The Greek might not hit the UK might not hit the UK until June 25th, but it’s out in the US tomorrow and as a result the first five minutes have shown up on Funny Or Die, featuring Russell Brand’s Aldous Snow promoting his latest single, African Child, which sees him giving birth to a baby and generally causing havoc in interviews. It’s very funny and suggest the film will be well worth a look. The main plot sees Jonah Hill’s record company intern charged with ensuring that Snow gets to his concert at LA’s Greek Theatre. It shouldn’t come as a shock that doing that proves more than a little difficult. Click below to watch the first five minutes of the film…
Lost Boys: The Thirst Trailer – Third time lucky after they screwed up the first sequel?
Despite the 2008 straight-to-DVD Lost Boys 2 getting one of the worst critical reactions in recent history, it must have made a fair bit of cash, as Warner have gone ahead and made third one, Lost Boys: The Thirst. Hopefully the film will be an apology for the second movie, although from this trailer, I wouldn’t hold out too much hope. However it does feature Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander returning as the Frog Brothers, who have to team up to stop a bloodsucking cult that’s trying to spread a drug that will turn everyone into a vampire. The film seems to have it’s tongue stuck in its cheek, and while we’ll reserve judgement, The Lost Boys 2 has made us very suspicious.
Splice Internet Trailer – Revealing the path to Dren
Although Splice was a hit at Sundance, it seems to be dividing the critics and preview audiences who’ve seen it since, with some adoring it, while other think it’s rubbish. Vincenzo Natali’s films follows two genetic engineers (Sarah Polley and Adrien Brody) who want to push the boundaries by creating a hybrid, using human DNA spliced with other animals. Even though they’ve been forbidden to do it, they create Dren, a strangely beautiful creature that exhibits uncommon intelligence and an array of unexpected physical developments. However what intially seems like a great success, soon becomes a dangerous disaster. Now a new internet only trailer has been released, charting the scientific course to Dren and what we can expect from the film. Click below to take a look. Splice hits UK cinemas on July 23rd.
Japanese Last Airbender Trailer Online – And does the film feature dewbacks?
Although the idea of a live action Last Airbender trailer sounded quite cheesy when it was first mooted, the trailers we’ve had so far make it look like M. Night Shyamalan’s flick may be one of the best new summer blockbuster of the year. Although the film may not turn out to be quite as cool as it looks, a new Japanese trailer that’s appeared online can only up the anticipation for the movie. With tonnes of great effects, the only question is whether this is set a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, as it appears there’s a man riding a Star Wars style dewback in the film. Anyway, click below for the trailer, and revel in the visuals even if you can’t understand the Japanese narration. The Last Airbender hits UK cinemas on August 13th
