I know one of them is a vampire and one a werewolf, but life would be a lot easier in Fork if Edward and Jacob could just go and get some counselling so they can stop hating each other. They certainly don’t like each other in this clip from Eclipse, with Jacob issuing a warning and Bella getting stuck in the middle, while discovering the vampire Victoria is after her and wants her dead. The clip, which premiered during the MTV Movie Awards, also features some other preview footage from the much-anticipated movie, so click below to take a look. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits UK cinemas on July 7th.
First Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Film Clip – Edgar Wright introduces a throwdown
It seems Michael Cera has been working on his fight moves, as the normally quiet and reserved actor shows off his rather nifty fisticuffs abilities in this first clip from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. The film, based on the graphic novels, sees Cera playing the title character, who falls for a girl, but the only way to win her heart is to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends. One of those exes is Chris Evans, who it turns out has a stunt team, all ready to beat the pulp out of poor Scott. Director Edgar Wright introduces the clip, which premiered during the MTV Movie Awards, so click below to take a look. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World hits UK cinemas on August 13th.
The Last Airbender – MTV Movie Awards Preview – You don’t wanna mess with this kid
Of all this year’s summer movies, the one that potentially looks the most exciting is M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. All the footage we’ve seen so far looks utterly spectacular, and this preview, shown during the MTV Movie Awards is no exception, with young Aang discovering he is the lone avatar who can manipulate Air, Water, Earth and Fire, and that he’s perhaps the only person who can prevent the evil Fire Nation from conquering the world. If the film is half as good as the footage we’ve had so far, we’re in for a treat. The Last Airbender arrives in the UK on August 13th.
Twelve Trailer – Joel Schumacher tackles the excesses of youth
Although this trailer sort of makes it look like Gossip Girl: The Movie (especially as it stars Chace Crawford), Joel Schumacher’s Twelve may actually be something a bit darker and more interesting. Based on a novel that Nick McDonell wrote when he was only 17, Twelve follows high school dropout turned drug dealer called White Mike (Crawford). His lucrative life sours when the dealer’s cousin is brutally murdered on an East Harlem playground and his best friend is arrested for the crime. The film also stars Emma Robert, 50 Cent, Ellen Barkin, Rory Culin and Kiefer Sutherland. Twelve should be in cinemas later this year.
Flipped Trailer – Can Rob Reiner recapture the magic of Stand By Me?
After becoming one of the top directors of the 80s and 90s, Rob Reiner’s had a bit of a dry spell with the likes of Alex & Emma, Rumor Has It and The Bucket List all being rather underwhelming, but his next movie, Flipped, takes hims back into the world of young people growing up in the 1950s, which he first explored in the classic Stand By Me. So will his new movie be a return to form, tapping into the feel of his 1986 film? Well, by the looks of it, it’s nothing like Stand By Me, instead telling a rather more generic tale of a kid who doesn’t understand the female of the species and starts to have strange feeling for a girl he’s known for years. However Flipped does look like it might be a nice nostalgic trip, so click below to watch the trailer and see what you think.
Inception Featurette – First Look – Nolan talks more about his vision for the film
After months of secrecy, the veil is finally being lifted from Inception, with new trailers and featurettes that have explained ever more about the dream world Christopher Nolan is trying to create. In this new featurette, the director himself speaks about the film and how they went about shooting it, although perhaps more interesting is the on-set footage, involving the likes of giant rotating sets. The film itself features Leo DiCaprio as an industrial espionage specialist who specialises in entering people’s dreams and extracting secrets. It certainly look action packed with loads of nifty special effects. The movie hits cinemas on July 16th, but click below for the new featurette.
