Takers – Extended Trailer – Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen plan a heist

9th June 2010 By Tim Isaac

The first trailers for Takers were released last year, as it was meant to be coming out in the spring. However that changed, with an August release now planned for the US, while it’ll reach the UK on September 17th. As a result they’ve had to start the trailer campaign again, releasing this extended four and a half minute promo, which looks pretty cool. The film has a decent ensemble cast including Paul Walker, Hayden Christensen, Zoe Saldana, Matt Dillon, Jay Hernandez, Chris Brown, Idris Elba and more, in a film about a group of bank robbers who find their $20 million dollar heist getting interrupted by a hard-boiled detective (Dillon). Click below to take a look at the extended trailer.

New Sorceror’s Apprentice Trailer – Nic Cage wants to help Jay Baruchel be magical

9th June 2010 By Tim Isaac

To go with the character posters Disney has been releasing this week (which you can see here, here, and here) they’ve now sent over a new trailer, which gives us a fresh look at the Jerry Bruckheimer produced action fantasy in which Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage), a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan, is trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath. However Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The Sorceror’s Apprentice hits UK cinemas on August 11th. Click below to take a look at the new trailer, which certainly makes it look like the film might be fun.

Day & Night Featurette – Find out more about the Pixar short that will be attached to Toy Story 3

8th June 2010 By Tim Isaac

20-odd years ago, nearly all animated movies came with a short cartoon that preceded them, but now Pixar is virtually the only company left doing that. However it does mean we’ve had some great treats over the year, including the likes of For The Birds and Presto. The short that will come with Toy Story 3 is Day & Night, featuring two hand-drawn characters, one of them day and one night, who instead of just being coloured in, have a CG world you can see going on inside/behind them. It’s a pretty strange idea and difficult to explain, but makes sense when you see it, which is probably why this featurette was released, giving us a look at the concept and how they came up with it. Click below to watch. Toy Story 3 and of course Day & night, reaches UK cinemas on July 17th (we think, as the date keeps creeping forwards, but that was the last we heard).

The Big Bang Trailer – Antonio Banderas goes noir as a private eye on the trail of diamonds

8th June 2010 By Tim Isaac

Antonio Banderas doesn’t seem to have been around much in the last couple of years, unless you’ve been in New York, where he’s had a couple of successful Broadway roles. Now he’s heading back to film with The Big, a modern noir about a private who’s hired to find a missing stripper. However, as always in this sort of film, what initially seems to be a simple job is nothing of the sort and ends leading him into a dark underworld of mobsters, a Russian boxer and $30 million worth of uncut diamonds. The Big Bang also stars Sienna Guillory, Sam Elliott, William Fichtner, James Van Der Beek, Thomas Kretschmann, Delroy Lindo and Snoop Dogg. Click below to take a look at the trailer. No release date has yet been set for the film.
