After the gutting disappointment that was last year’s Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, which promised so much but delivered so little, we need something to restore our faith in giant killer animal movies. The latest to come along is Mega Piranha, which looks impressively silly, but then, that’s exactly what you want from a film like this. As long as every single special effect isn’t in the trailer (as it was for Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus), this could well be one for monster movie fans to keep an eye out for. Mega Piranha is getting a limited theatrical run in the UK from July 16th, and then reaches DVD on August 9th. Take a look at the trailer below.
New Resident Evil: Afterlife Trailer – Life never gets better for Alice, but at least it’s 3D this time
What would Milla Jovovoch do without Resident Evil? It seems no one is interested in seeing her in anything else. Now she’s got the fourth Resident Evil movie coming to keep her career rolling along, and a new trailer for the film has just arrived. While the first promo seemed to be about telling fans that if they liked the earlier films they’ll like this one, the new one wants us to think it’ll all look extremely cool in 3D. It also promises that after Alice wandering around for years killing monsters, this time she might actually be able to strike at the heart of the Umbrella organisation. Click below to take a look. Resident Evil: Afterlife is due in cinemas September 10th.
New Despicable Me Trailer – Can a supervillain be the hero?
In this year’s battle of the CG animated movies about supervillains, purely going by the trailers Despicable Me looks like it’s going to be a lot more fun that Dreamwork’s Megamind. It’ll also reach cinemas first, with Despicable Me out October 15th, while Megamind doesn’t arrive until December 3rd. Despicable Me sees a trio of orphan girls causing the normally deplorable super-villain Gru to rethink his plan to steal the moon. Now a new trailer has come online, and suggest this is one CG movie to keep an eye out for. Click below to take a look.
Tomorrow, When The War Began Trailer – What would you do if your country for invaded?
It’s always intriguing the direction a screenwriter goes when they turn director. Stuart Beattie has become well known in Hollyood for writing the likes of Pirates Of The Caribbean, Collateral, G.I. Joe and 30 Days Of Night, but for his first directorial outing he’s gone for a vaguely Red Dawn type tale of a group of Australian teenagers out hiking, who have to face their country getting unexpectedly invaded, and must somehow learn to escape, survive and fight back. The movie arrives Down Under in September, and should come here sometime soon after. It certainly looks worth keeping an eye out for.
New Cyrus International Trailer – John C Reilly and Jonah Hill hate each other
The Duplass Brothers have gained a bit of a reputation for themeselves in the indie field following The Puffy Chair and Baghead, and now they’re going slightly more mainstream with Cyrus. John C. Reilly stars as a divorced man who’s having trouble adjusting to single life, especially as his ex (Catherine Keener) is about to remarry. Then he meets the potential woman of his dreams (Marisa Tomei). However problems arise when he meets her grown son (Jonah Hill), who is ridiculously possessive of his mum, and the two begin to clash. A mix of broad comedy and indie sensibilities, Cyrus certainly seems like it could be worth a look. It’s due to hit cinemas this autumn, but click below for the new UK trailer.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World International Trailer – More action from the insane looking Edgar Wright flick
We’ve had an initial trailer and a film clip, and now a new International Trailer for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World has arrived, which features more of the movie’s insane comic book/videogame inspired action, and should get even more people excited about the Edgar Wright directed film. The movie, based on the graphic novels, sees Michael Cera playing the title character, who falls for a girl, but the only way to win her heart is to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World hits UK cinemas on August 13th, but click below for the fab new trailer and revel in just how insane this film looks.
