They’re being pretty smart with the marketing for David Fincher’s The Social Network. A movie about the founding of Facebook doesn’t sound that interesting on its own, and it would have been easy for them just to sell it as a typical tale of crazy college kids who come up with an idea, make their fortune, but then face the problems of success. But they’re not, they’re trying to intrigue us and suggest it’ll be something a bit more than that – which you’d certainly hope for from the director of Seven, Fight Club and Zodiac. The first poster was a bit mysterious and seemed largely designed just to get you to look. This teaser meanwhile throws up all sorts of possibilities about the tone the film will take, and make it seem as if it’ll be a lot more dramaticc than just kids accidentally launching a cultural phenomenon. In fact it’s all a little ominous. The Social Network is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on October 15th, but click below for the teaser trailer.
Little Fockers Trailer – Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and co. are back
Many had assumed that while the sequel to Meet The Parent and Meet The Fockers was going by the working title Little Fockers, that would prove too racy and they’d have to change it, but it appears they’re sticking with the name, as they’ve plonked it on the first trailer. This time around Greg (Ben Stiller) and Pam (Teri Polo) have to deal with the arrival of their families for their twin’s birthday parties, including Jack (Robert De Niro), who still isn’t sure Greg is a suitable father and man of the house. Jessica Alba, Laura Dern and Harvey Keitel join the throng the the threequel, but from the trailer it seems its pretty much business as usual for the Byrnes and the Fockers. The movie hits cinemas this winter.
Predators International Red Band Trailer – Adrien Brody drops in with a bit more violence
Although fairly similar to earlier trailers, this new international Red Band promo for Predators includes a bit more action and violence, although it’s still not showing us much of the creatures themselves. The trailer certainly makes the film seem fairly intense and suitably violent, although we’ll soon be able to judge for ourselves, as the release is only a couple of weeks away, on July 8th. In the film, the infamous dreadlocked aliens kidnap a bunch of the most bad-ass humans they can find and dump them on their planet, so they can be hunted. First Red Trailer – Helen Mirren just can’t stop killing in the DC Comics adaptation
Normally if the DC Comics logo comes up in a trailer you’d expect people with superpowers running around in costumes, but the graphic novel adaptation Red is something slightly different and potentially a whole lot of fun. Bruce Willis stars as Frank Moses, a retired black ops agent who becomes the target of a high-tech goverment assassination attempt and must get his old low-tech posse back together to fight off the threat. Alongide Bruce, the film also stars Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine, Julian McMahon, James Remar and Rebecca Pidgeon. As this trailer shows, they’ve gone for a slightly tongue in cheek tone, which seems to work well, especially with Helen Mirren unable to stop killing people and John Malkovich going completely nuts. Red is currently scheduled for release this autumn, but click below to watch the first trailer.
