Disney may have just sold Miramax, but it looks like the new owners will have at least one movie they can release soon, as the company’s logo is attached to the Guillermo Del Toro produced Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, which was initially described as being creepy fun that might be suitable for the whole family, but is looking a whole lot darker and R-rated than that in this teaser. In the film Sally (Bailee Madison) is a lonely, introverted child who has just arrived at the 19th century mansion her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) are restoring. While exploring the sprawling estate, Sally discovers a hidden, long-undisturbed basement. Unwittingly, she unleashes a race of malevolent, dark-dwelling creatures who intend to drag her and her family down into the mansion’s bottomless depths. Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark is due out early next year, but click below for the scary teaser.
30 Days Of Night: Dark Days Red Band Trailer – The bloodsuckers are back (and going straight to DVD)
It might have taken them a while to get round to it, but they’ve made a sequel to the excellent 30 Days Of Night, except this time around it’s going straight to DVD and features none of the same cast as the first film. Kiele Sanchez takes over Melissa George’s role of Stella Oleson in Ben Ketai’s film, who a year on from the massacre in Barrow Alaska is still traumatised, and wandering the world trying to get people to take her seriously. She meets a few other people who believe in vampires and hatches a plan to exact revenge on vampire queen, Lilith (Mia Kirschner). A new Red Band trailer for the film has appeared online, which may not make 30 Days Of Night: Dark Days look like a masterpiece, but it could be a fair amount of fun.
The Other Guys – Extended Comic-Con Trailer – See more of Ferrell, Wahlberg and co.
The comedy The Other Guys isn’t the sort of movie you’d expect to feature heavily at Comic-Con, but it had a panel, which included director Adam McKay and the film’s stars and also showed off some clips and an extended trailer. That promo has now shown up online, and feature four-minutes of largely never-before-seen clips from the film. Set in New York, The Other Guys follows Detective Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell), a forensic accountant whos more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg), a tough guy who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an unfortunate run-in with Derek Jeter. Allen and Terry idolise the citys top cops, Danson and Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things dont quite go as planned. The comedy is due out on September 2nd in the UK, but click below for the fun first trailer for the movie.
The Virginity Hit Red Band Trailer – Take a look at the Comic-Con mockumentary hit
Although there’s been some debate over how much of a boost some movies got at Comic-Con, one that was definitely helped was The Virginity Hit, as it was a movie few had heard of before it was screened in San Diego and got bigged up by producer Adam McKay. Now the Red Band (over 18s only) extended trailer for the film has shown up online. The movie is a mockumentary following a group of teens and one of their over the top odysseys to lose their virginity, live on camera, which proves more difficult to arrange than expected. Click below to take a look.
Saw 3D Motion Poster – It’s literally mind-blowing
Although not quite as cools as some of the earlier Saw motion posters, this one (which debuted over at UGO) is still pretty nifty and keen to sell the fact that everything will be in three-dimensions this time around. The final film in the series, which is supposed to wrap up many of the franchise’s mysteries (if anyone still cares, that is), will also sees the return of characters from earlier movies, such as Cary Elwes’ Dr. Lawrence Gordon. However I doubt we’ll see Jigsaw’s head exploding as it does in the motion poster below. The film hits cinemas on October 29th.
Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage Trailer – Where the hell did this awful-looking Patrick Stewart movie come from?
Sometimes trailers emerge for films where even thoue keeping their ear to the ground have heard nothing about them. The only movie based on the 1001 Nights stories that generally been talked about is one Chuck Russell is working on, but it appears someone has beaten him to the punch with Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage, which features Patrick Stewart. However don’t get too excited, as it’s extremely low budget, and looks pretty abysmal. There even seem to be stop motion creatures, which is a nice salute to Harryhausen, but it’s difficult to see it working in a modern film. Anyway, click below to watch the trailer and just pray the actual film isn’t this bad.
