The Avengers Comic-Con Teaser Trailer – It may just be a logo, but it’s still cool

5th August 2010 By Tim Isaac

At Comic-Con. Marvel revealed a short teaser trailer for The Avengers, and that’s now popped up online. Unsurprisingly, as the film doesn’t actually go into production until next year, there’s not any footage from the movie, but even watching the logo being revealed is pretty cool, especially with the uber-cool voice of Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury talking about how The Avengers were born. If nothing else, it makes the almost unbelievable idea of getting Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Hulk all in the same movie, suddenly seem more real than it has before. The Avengers will be in cinemas in 2012.

New The Last Exorcism trailer – Take another look at the creepy mockumentary

5th August 2010 By Tim Isaac

There’s been a fair bit of buzz building around The Last Exorcism, partly because of the presence of Eli Roth amongst the producers, and also intrigue over whether its mockumentary angle will be able to bring something new to an increasingly stale horror staple. And it really is down to the execution, as the plot is fairly standard stuff about a troubled priest going off into the backwoods to perform his final exorcism, on a girl who’s father is convinced she’s possessed by a demon. However the conceit or having the preacher followed on his mission by a documentary crew certainly promises something a little different, and if the movie is as creepy as the new trailer, it could be a winner. The film should hit UK cinemas on September 3rd.

Burlesque Trailer – It’s like Bob Fosse’s glitzier bastard child

5th August 2010 By Tim Isaac

I have to admit to being far more intrigued by Burlesque than perhaps I ought to be, as it’s the sort of film that could be great fun, or alternatively might be just about the worst thing ever made. And to be honest, after watching this trailer I’m no wiser as to which it’ll be. However it is clear the director and choreographer have been watching a lot of Bob Fosse, and created the movie as a sort of glitzy bastard child of the great man’s style. Burlesque is about Chrisitna Aguilera’s small town girl with a big voice who finds success at a neo-burlesque club, after being taken under the wing of former dancer Tess (Cher). The film also stars Stanley Tucci, Eric Dane, Kristen Bell, Julianne Hough and Eric Dane also star. It’s due out at the end of the year, but click below for the trailer.

I Kissed A Vampire Trailer – Because there simply aren’t enough Glee meets Twilight musicals

4th August 2010 By Tim Isaac

It’s what the world has been waiting for – a teen vampire musical, starring one of the kids out of High School Musical. Well, okay, no one’s been waiting for that, and despite the Glee meets Twilight premise, and the fact the director is Chris Nolan (unfortunately though, he’s not the good one that made Inception), this trailer makes the movie look pretty dreadful. It’s based on an iTunes web series that’s now gone feature length, starring Lucas Grabeel (High School Musical), Andrew Seeley and Adrian Slade, in a look at the torment of falling in love when you’re in the middle of becoming a vampire, with 17 original songs and a budget that would barely buy you a Big Mac. It’s worth watching the trailer just because it’s so strange, so take a look. The film  premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival, and will be available to download from iTunes in October.

New Alien Anthology Blu-ray Packshots and Trailer – Including the fab looking collectible alien egg

4th August 2010 By Tim Isaac

A couple of weeks ago we brought you news that an Alien Anthology Blu-ray box set was coming out in the UK on October 25th, and that’s it’d be absolutely packed to the brim with special features, including every extra that was on the laserdisc and various DVD editions, two versions of each of the four films film and an innovative interactive mode that takes you deep into the movie as you watch the film.

You can read more about all that by clicking here, including a full list of all the amazing special features.

Now Fox has released revised UK Alien Anthology artwork, and confirmed that they’ll also release the six discs in a great looking, limited edition collectible alien egg, which would look fabulous in anyone’s collection (the egg had been confirmed for other countries, but Fox has now released the imagery of the UK version, which you can see below). They’ve also brought out a trailer to tease us with exactly what we can expect, so click below to see that.

Trust Trailer – First look at the David Schwimmer directed, Clive Owen and Catherine Keener film

3rd August 2010 By Tim Isaac

After Friends, David Schwimmer suggested he wouldn’t do much more acting, and he’s largely stuck to that, instead directing the likes Run Fatboy Run and Little Britain USA. However now he’s moving away from comedy to a drama, Trust, starring Clive Owen and Catherine Keener. The movie, which is due to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, confronts the issue of kids on the internet, with two parents, (Keener and Owen), discovering that the guy their daughter has been chatting to on the net is considerably older than he said, and that something terrible has happened when she goes to meet him. The movie should be in cinemas later this year.
