There’s been a lot of interest in Repeaters, which will debut soon at the Toronto International Film Festival, due to its intriguing premise. Although time loops have been used extensively, this one is sort of Groundhog Day done as a gritty thriller, with three young ex-crims allowed out on a day pass, who begin to realise that everything re-sets as it was the each morning. As a result they go wild, knowing their actions will have no concequences (it’ll all be erased at the end of the day). It’s certainly a fun idea, so take a look below for the teaser trailer. No release date is yet set.
The Freebie Trailer – Dax Shepard goes indie in the Sundance flick
After showing promise in the likes of Zathura and Idiocracy, Dax Shepard rather disappeared from view, only recently re-emerging with a major role in TV’s Parenthood. However he wasn’t sitting idle, and one of the things he did was make the indie flick The Freebie, which played at this year’s Sundance and now has a trailer online. The film sees him playing one half of a couple (with the other half being actress – and the film director – Katie Aselton), who enjoy being together but never have sex. To spice things up, they decide to allow each other to have a one night stand with a person of their choosing, no questions asked, but inevitably this is easier said than done. Although that might sound like the set-up for a comedy, this is more dramedy, and looks like it could actually be pretty good. Click below to take a look
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Premiere Video – Movie Muser and Screen 3 hit the red carpet and talk to the stars
Movie Muser and Screen 3 were at the London premiere of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World last week, and now we’ve got the video from the event, with our own Alex Hall on the red carpet, talking to the likes of Michael Cera, Edgar Wright, Brandon Routh, the comic’s creator Bryan Lee O’Malley and loads more. It was a great event, so take a look below to see what the stars had to say as they hit the red carpet in Leicester Square, for the premiere of the fantastic movie.
New Tamara Drewe Trailer – Gemma Arterton shakes up rural life
Tamara Drewe looks like it could be a lot of fun, even though it appears to be the sort of very British movie you’d never have expected to be based on a graphic novel. It’s essentially a modern day update of Thomas Hardy’s Far From The Madding Crowd, in which sexy flirt Drewe (Gemma Arterton) returns to her small country village after completely transforming herself through plastic surgery and a new look. She stirs up dark passions amongst the locals, which leads to tragedy. The movie hits UK cinemas on September 10th, but now a new trailer has shown up online, so click below to take a look.
Julia’s Eyes Trailer – Promo for the Guillermo Del Toro produced horror-thriller
If Guillmero Del Toro’s name is attached to something, it’s normally worth watching out for, and that certainly seems true of Julia’s Eye, which he produced, with Guillem Morales directing. The movie, which will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, is about Julia, who’s suffering from a degenerative eye disease. She begins to investigate the death of her sister, which looks like suicide but which Julia things is murder. This leads her into a dark and strange world that seems to be haunted by a mysterious presence. The trailer is certainly creepy, with lots of jumps and creepy people with no pupils. It’s all extremely peculiar, but suggests this could be a real Spanish-language treat.
Inside Job Trailer – It’s the end of the economic world as we know it!
The moment the world went into financial metldown, it seems every documentary maker in the world rubbed their hands in glee and set out to make a film looking at how the overpaid men in banks and other economic institutions managed to destroy the world. We’ve had movies from the likes of Michael Moore already, and now it’s the turn of Charles Ferguson, director of the Oscar nominated No End In Sight. With narration by Matt Damon, Inside Job traces just how the financial world got so out of control, and basically went rogue. Take a look at the trailer below, and I think it’s safe to say the documentary isn’t on the side of the men in suits.
