127 Hours Clip – First clip from Danny Boyle’s claustrophobic tale

13th September 2010 By Tim Isaac

There’s undoubtedly a lot of interest in 127 Hours, Danny Boyle’s film about Aaron Ralston, who became trapped under a boulder for five day while out hiking, and was eventually left with the choice of either hacking off his own arm in order to try and escape, or dying where he was. While the movie is apparently nearly all about those claustrophobic 127 Hours, the first clip comes from early in the movie, when Ralston ( James Franco) is trying to impress some girls with his daredevil attitude. Click below to take a look. The movie hits cinemas on January 7th, 2011.

Passion Play Film Clip – Mickey Rourke sees Megan Fox get her wings

13th September 2010 By Tim Isaac

Ever since it was announced, Passion Play has seemed a bizarre and yet intriguing movie, about a down on his luck jazz trumpeter (Mickey Rourke), meets a beautiful woman (Megan Fox) who works as the Bird Woman in a circus. He falls madly in love and persuades her to run away with him only to find that life is a little more complicated than simply living one’s fantasies. This first clip, which was released by ET to coincide with the film’s debut at the Toronto Film Festival, involved Rourke seeing Fox properly for the first time, as she unfurls her wings, in a scene reminiscent of Paris, Texas. It’s all a bit odd, but then the first reviews from the Toronto screening suggest it is a peculiar film in general. Click below to take a look.

New Megamind Trailer – Fresh look at the supervillain Dreamworks Animation flick

10th September 2010 By Tim Isaac

The first few looks we had of Megamind were pretty underwhelming, suggesting it was going to pretty much like every other production line Dreamworks Animation flick. However the more they’ve released, the better the movie’s come across. This new trailer continues that trend, with plenty of good humour and the suggestion Megamind may actually have a farily interesting story to tell. The CG flick stars Will Ferrell as a criminal mastermind who defeats his superhero nemesis, Metro Man (Brad Pitt). However with nobody around to try and stop his evil plans, Megamind falls into despair, as everything’s become far too easy. To try and spice up his life he creates a new rival, Titan (Jonah Hill). The only problem is that Titan wants to be a supervillain too, and Megamind may be the only person who can stop him! Click below for the new trailer, which plays on the movie parallels to Superman. The film reaches the UK on December 3rd.

Country Strong Trailer – Gwyneth Paltrow’s just a country girl

10th September 2010 By Tim Isaac

Since she became a mum, we’ve seen less of Gwyneth Paltrow on our screens, but she’s back later this year with Country Strong, an Oscar bait movie about a country music singer (Paltrow), who’s seen as past her prime, but decides to mount a comeback after connecting with a young songwriter (Garrett Hedlund). However this sparks complications with her husband (Tim McGraw), who’s trying to launch th career of a beauty queen turned singer (Leighton Meester). As this trailer shows, Country Strong seem keen to tick all the music film boxes, from battles with drink/drugs to the triumphant comeback. It’s tough to see this doing well in the UK, due to our lack in interest in country music, but it’s huge in the States, and if Country Strong can get a few award nominations, it could do pretty well. Be interesting to know what Chris Martin thought about his wife turning to country music though.

Saw 3D Trailer – The traps are back and coming to an end

10th September 2010 By Tim Isaac

Hmm, I think they might be overselling the 3D just a tad with this trailer, as I severely doubt circular saw really will come flying out of the screen, or that characters in the movie will be able to literally grab members of the audience out of their seat. But hey, by this stage what else is there to say, other than it’ll be more of the same and that this is the final movie, so theoretically all the question that nobody cares about will be answered. Click below to take a look. The film hits cinemas in October.
