Ever since it was announced, Burlesque has sounded insanely camp, and this second trailer for the film makes it seem we’ll get more glitter and sequins than we ever possibly imagined! It’s like a drag bar exploded. Burlesque is about Chrisitna Aguilera’s small town girl with a big voice who finds success at a neo-burlesque club, after being taken under the wing of former dancer Tess (Cher). The film also stars Stanley Tucci, Eric Dane, Kristen Bell, Julianne Hough and Eric Dane also star. It’s due out at the end of the year, but click below for the trailer.
Death Race 2 Trailer – Luke Goss puts his pedal to the metal in this prequel
While Paul WS Anderson’s Death Race wasn’t exactly a gargantuan worldwide hit, it had enough of an audience that they’ve made a straight-to-DVD prequel, with Luke Goss stepping into the shoes of convicted Cop Killer Car Lucas, who becomes legendary racer Frankenstein (whose racing identity Jason Statham took over in the 2008 flick), chosen to take part in the televised competition where convicts in heavily armed vehicles compete for supremacy, and if they survive five races, they win their freedom. Ving Rhame, Sean Bean and Danny Trejo also star. The film will be on DVD and Blu-ray next year.
The Warrior’s Way Trailer – Geoffrey Rush and Kate Bosworth merge martial arts fantasy and the western
With Asia emerging as a true box office powerhouse for Hollywood, the studios are always looking for ways to fuse the east and the west, and The Warrior’s Way is really going the whole hog on that score. It take the OTT, CG enhanced style of modern Asian martial arts fantasy, and merges it with a western starring Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth and Danny Huston. The results look peculiar but also rather intriguing (although the less said about Rush’s performance the better). Korean actor Dong-gun Jang plays an Asian warrior assassin forced to hide in a small town in the American Badlands, which leads all sorts of martial arts baddies to try and take him and the locals out, in truly stylised fashion. Take a look below for the trailer of what could be an insane but rather entertaining film.
Yogi Bear Trailer – Smarter than the average trailer?
If this trailer is anything to go by, Yogi Bear is basically going to be 90 minutes of a CG animal getting pummeled in many and varied ways, but it certainly seems like it might be good kid’s entertainment. The CG still doesn’t quite fit with the live action, but that wasn’t a problem for Alvin & The Chipmunks, and I still fail to see the point of paying Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake to play Yogi and Boo-boo, then making them sound like the cartoon, so you wouldn’t know it was them. But hey, perhaps it’s a genius plan! Anna Faris stars as a wildlife filmmaker heading to Jellystone, where she meets Ranger Smith (Tom Cavanagh) and discovers the walking disaster area that is Yogi. The film hits cinemas this Christmas, but take a look below for the trailer.
True Grit Trailer – The Coens and Jeff Bridges take on the John Wayne classic
If you’re looking for tips on how to make an Oscar bait trailer, you could do worse than studying this first look at True Grit. With it’s period detail, ethereal music, roster of stars wearing natty old-fashioned hats and use of the magic words, ‘A Film By Joel And Ethan Coen’, this is already eyeing up as many awards nominations as it can get (and an Oscar campaign really does start long before a film’s release, with things like trailers). Jeff Bridges takes on John Wayne’s Oscar winning role of Rooster Cogburn in this remake of the 1969 film, who is hired by young Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) to go into Indian territory and track down her father’s killer. The Coens’ film is said to cleave closer to the original book than the John Wayne flick, telling the story through Mattie’s eyes. True Grit, which also stars Matt Damon and Josh Brolin, will hit UK cinemas on January 14th, 2011.
New Skyline Trailer – It’s mass alien abduction time, with giant metal monsters!
We’ve had posters and a teaser trailer for Skyline, and now the full extent of the alien carnage has been revealed in a new trailer, which you can watch by clicking below. Despite not having a gargantuan budget, the film certainly seems to be squeezing as much mayhem in as it can. Skyline sees strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame, where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth. The movie then concentrate on a few survivors (played by the likes of Kate Mara, Eric Balfour and Laz Alonso) and their attempt to fight back. Although as you can see from the trailer, with giant metal monsters everywhere, that’s easier said than done. The film hits UK cinemas on November 12th.
