Biutiful Gets A US Trailer – Another look at Javier Bardem’s Cannes winning role
US trailers for foreign-language films are odd beasts, laregely because the marketeers don’t want to admit there’ll be subtitles, so nobody really says all that much, and instead you just get a lot of random, pretty pictures. While that sounds pretty straightforward, she’s a mental patient, while he’s a funeral-crasher whose best friend is a ghost. It’s the sort of film that could be great, or which could be trying way too hard. It’ll be interesting to see which side it falls when it’s released early next year.
