New Trailer For The Fighter – Take another look at Bale and Wahlberg in David O’Russell’s film

19th October 2010 By Tim Isaac

Although the score for this new trailer for The Fighter seems completely random and ill-fitting, it nevertheless lets us see plenty of new footage from David O’Russell’s film starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams. The movie based on the true story of Boston fighter “Irish” Mickey Ward and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother Dicky Eklund. Eklund once decked Sugar Ray Leonard and went the distance against the boxing legend before forfeiting his career to drugs and crime. He redeemed himself by training Ward through his Rocky-like run to the title. Originally attached to an episode of Mad Men in the US, take a look below for the new trailer.

Biutiful Gets A US Trailer – Another look at Javier Bardem’s Cannes winning role

19th October 2010 By Tim Isaac

US trailers for foreign-language films are odd beasts, laregely because the marketeers don’t want to admit there’ll be subtitles, so nobody really says all that much, and instead you just get a lot of random, pretty pictures. That’s certainly true of this first US promo for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Biutiful, which won Javier Bardem the Best Actor prize at Cannes. Although you wouldn’t know it from this trailer, Javier Bardem plays Uxbal, a survivor on the invisible margins in today’s Barcelona, who tries to reconcile with love and save his children, as he tries to save himself. Involved in illegal dealing, his life changes when he is confronted by his childhood friend, who is now a policeman. The film will hit UK cinemas on January 28th, 2011.

Restless Trailer – Mia Wasikowska stars in Gus Van Sant’s latest

18th October 2010 By Tim Isaac

Produced by Ron Howard and directed by Gus Van Sant, Restless certainly has a good pedigree, even if this trailer makes it look a bit odd. Mia Wasikowska and Henry Hopper (son of Dennis, star as two outsiders who come together and forge a relationship. While that sounds pretty straightforward, she’s a mental patient, while he’s a funeral-crasher whose best friend is a ghost. It’s the sort of film that could be great, or which could be trying way too hard. It’ll be interesting to see which side it falls when it’s released early next year.
