The Rite International Trailer – Fresh look at the Anthony Hopkins exorcism flick

10th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

Hannibal Lecter performing exorcisms! Whatever next? But that’s what happens in The Rite, with Anthony Hokins playing an unorthodox priest and master exorciser, who introduces a sceptical seminary student, Michael (Colin O’Donoghue), to the darker side of the faith. While Michael thinks demonic possession is just hysteria and people with mental problems, it turns out things are far more supernatural than that. We had a rather OTT trailer a couple of months ago, and now the international version has been debuted by Empire. It sees Hopkins being rather Lecter-esque, and takes us further into the rather bizarre. plot. Click below to take a look. The film should hit UK cinemas on February 25th, 2011.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Teaser Trailer – Neil Armstrong found more than dust on the moon!

9th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

It appears next year will be the year the movies really want us to believe the Apollo missions found more than dust and rocks on the moon, with several movies focussing on the idea of secrets about aliens that NASA has been keeping from us. While most of these are small, ‘found footage’ projects, the big one is Transformers 3, and as you can see from this teaser trailer, it’s going with the premise that the astronauts hushed up finding an entire spaceship on the moon. And what should be inside that ship but a Transformer! (I’d suggest watching the trailer below before reading any more)

But who is he? Well, that’s already the subject of a lot of debate. We already know Shockwave will turn up as a new villain. He’s a longtime Transformers character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth. However this doesn’t appear to be him. Most of the speculation is that he’s Alpha Trion, one of the original 13 Transformers who were created by the god Primus before he created the rest of the Transformers race. He’s generally depicted as an ancient mechanoid with a link to Optimus Prime. It’s all very mysterious, and it could be a completely different bot (some have suggest Ultra Magnus, Unicron or a heavily altered Shockwave) and the teaser plays out like a short movie of its own. It’s also presumed that this mat be the ship that brought the autobot to Earth in the first place and held them in suspended animation until they were revived. Click below to take a look. Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits cinemas July 1st, 2011.

New Rio Trailer – All the troubles of a flight-challenged parrot

9th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

After spending several years getting very chilly with Ice Age, the makers of those movies have decided to head somewhere a bit warmer for their next film, Rio, about a small-town American cage parrot called Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg). He thinks he’s the last of his kind, but when he discovers there’s another of his species out there somewhere, he heads off to Brazil to find her. However it’s not exactly love at first sight and Blu has a lot to learn, not least, how to fly. The film is due out next spring, but click below to watch the trailer.

Real Steel Teaser Trailer – First trailer and pics for at the Hugh Jackman robot fighting flick!

9th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

It seems to be the week for launching marketing campaigns for next year’s big movies, with the teaser trailer for Transformers 3, the first pics from Pirate Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (and a trailer next week), and now the first images and a teaser trailer for Real Steel. The Dreamworks movie stars Hugh Jackman and some ass-kicking robots!

You can see the first images above and below and the teaser is at the bottom of this post. So enjoy you first look at what may be one of next summer’s biggest movies. While the official UK release date is TBD, it’ll probably be out be out early October 2011.

Here’s the official synopsis: A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Arthur Christmas Teaser Trailer – Aardman Animation gets festive

7th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

It may be nearly a full year away from release, but with the festive season upon us, Aardman Animation has decided now is the time to give us our first taste of their 2011 treat, Arthur Christmas, by releasing a teaser trailer. Featuring the voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen, this film is set on Christmas night and reveals the answer to every child’s question: ‘So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?’ James McAvoy leads the cast as Arthur, the good-natured but clumsy younger son of Santa, who ends up with an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns. Arthur loves everything to do with Christmas; indeed, he is the only one in his family still captivated by the magic of the holiday. And as you can see from this trailer, delivering presents seems to have something to do with UFOs! The movie hits UK cinemas November 11th, 2011.

New Vanishing On 7th Street Trailer – There’s nobody there except Hayden Christensen!

7th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

Well, Vanishing On 7th Street looks like it’s gonna be very weird – almost I Am Legend meets Pitch Black. The premise of the film is that a mysterious, seemingly global blackout causes countless populations to simply vanish, leaving only their clothes and possessions behind. A small handful of survivors band together in a dimly-lit tavern on 7th Street, struggling to combat the apocalyptic horror. Realising they may in fact be the last people on earth, the darkness hones in on them alone. And as this trailer attests, they need to stay in the light if they hope to survive! It all seems very strange, but then so did Brad Anderson’s previous movies, Session 9 and The Machinist, before we actually saw them. The film is due out early next year and stars Hayden Christensen, John Leguixamo and Thandie Newton.
