Limitless Trailer – Bradley Cooper opens up his brain power with tablets

17th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

One day, somebody’s going to make a movie where the lead character ‘plays god’ or pushes the limits of science and it all turns out really well, but that’s not what’s going to happen with Limitless (previously known as Dark Fields), which follows the usual route of everything going tits up when somebody starts messing with nature. Bradley Cooper plays out-of-work writer Eddie Morra, whose rejection by girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) confirms his belief that he has zero future. That all changes the day an old friend introduces Eddie to MDT, a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive. Now on an MDT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie’s read, heard or seen is instantly organised and available to him. As the former nobody rises to the top of the financial world, he draws the attention of business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as the tool to make billions. Inevitably though, brutal side effects jeopardise his meteoric ascent. With a dwindling stash and hit men who will eliminate him to get the MDT, Eddie must stay wired long enough to elude capture and fulfill his destiny. If he can’t, he will become just another victim who thought he’d found invincibility in a bottle. The film will hit cinemas on March 18th, 2011, but click below for the trailer.

The Tree Of Life Trailer – Brad Pitt and Sean Penn star in Terrence Malick’s latest film

16th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

Director Terrence Malick (Badlands, The Thin Red Line) is never one to do things like other people, and this trailer suggest The Tree Of Life won’t be your usual film. The movie follows the life journey of eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. It’s described as an impressionistic story full of Malick’s signature imagery, which is much in evidence in the trailer, with seemingly random shots of nature, planets, buildings and the like interspersed with images of the actors. It’s certainly very intriguing. We should be able to find out for ourselves when it hits cinemas around next May. Click below for the trailer.

Water For Elephants Trailer – Robert Pattinson and Reece Witherspoon are circus lovers!

16th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

Will people care about Robert Pattinson if he’s not being a vampire? They didn’t flock to Remember Me, and while the upcoming Bel Ami doesn’t looks like it’ll break the bank,  Water For Elephant is a potentially more commercial prospect. Pattinson stars alongside Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz, playing veterinary school student Jacob, who meets and falls in love with Marlena (Witherspoon), a star performer in a circus of a bygone era. They discover beauty amidst the world of the Big Top, and come together through their compassion for a special elephant. Against all odds – including the wrath of Marlena’s charismatic but dangerous husband, August (Waltz) – Jacob and Marlena find lifelong love. There’s even the promise of a major circus disaster! It does look like it could be one of those romances with a little more to offer than usual, and we’ll be able to find out when it hits cinemas on Aptil 22nd, 2011. Click below for the trailer.

Take Me Home Tonight Trailer – Topher Grace and Anna Faris deal with raunch and romance

15th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

Although ruanchy rom coms do tend to seem pretty interchangeable, they’re also fairly profitable, and so Hollywood ensures we have a steady stream. The latest is the 80s-set Take Me Out Tonight, starring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Teresa Palmer and Dan Fogler. Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin (Topher Grace) should be working for a Fortune 500 company and starting his upward climb to full-fledged yuppie-hood. Instead, the directionless 23-year-old confounds family and friends by taking a part-time job behind the counter of a video store at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. But Matt’s silent protest against maturity comes to a screeching halt once his unrequited high school crush, Tori Frederking (Teresa Palmer), walks into the store. When she invites him to an epic, end-of-summer party, Matt thinks he finally might have a chance with the girl of his dreams. With his cynical twin sister Wendy (Anna Faris) and best friend Barry (Dan Fogler), Matt embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime evening. From stealing a car to a marriage proposal to an indescribable, no-holds-barred dance-off, these friends share experiences that will change the course of their lives on one unforgettable night in the Go-Go ’80s. The film will be in cinemas next spring, but click below for the trailer.

New Rango Trailer – Another look at Gore Verbinski’s animated western

15th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

There’s little doubt that ever since it was first announced, Rango has sounded a bit odd, and when images emerged of the lead character – a lop-sided, crooked-necked chameoleon – it seemed even more peculiar. However the hope has always been that with direction from Gore Verbinski, and Johnny Depp voicing the title character, this CGI western might be pretty good. By the evidence of this new trailer, if nothing else it’s gonna look gorgeous. Rango is a pet chameleon having an indenity crisis, who heads off on an adventure into the desert. He wants to be a swashbuckling hero, and is forced to become that – despite his lack of experience – when he enters a Western town plagued by bandits. The film will be in cinemas next spring, but click below for the trailer.

Fast Five Trailer – The Fast & Furious franchise is back

15th December 2010 By Tim Isaac

While the title Fast Five may be stupid, the Fast & Furious franchise has always managed to deliver dumb fun, and has been a consistent earner for Universal, hence why they’re hoping for good profits from next year’s fifth instalment. Since Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia Toretto Jordanna (Brewster) broke Dom (Vin Diesel) out of custody, they’ve blown across many borders to elude authorities. Now backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro, they must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom. As they assemble an elite team of top racers, the unlikely allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the corrupt businessman who wants them dead. But he’s not the only one on their tail. Hard-nosed federal agent Luke Hobbs (franchise newcomer Dwayne Johnson) never misses his target. When he is assigned to track down Dom and Brian, he and his strike team launch an all-out assault to capture them. But as his men tear through Brazil, Hobbs learns he can’t separate the good guys from the bad. Now, he must rely on his instincts to corner his prey… before someone else runs them down first. Fast Five his cinemas next April, but click below for the all-action trailer.
