Using the same mo-cap technology as the likes of A Christmas Carol (although directed by Simon Wells, rather than Robert Zemeckis), Mars Needs Moms tells the story of nine-year-old Milo, who finds out just how much he needs his mom when shes nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. Milo embarks on a quest to save his mother a wild adventure that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader. Now a second trailer has hit web, which you can watch below. The movie hits cinemas on April 8th.
Atlas Shrugged: Part I Trailer – Ayn Rand’s novel is finally coming to the big screen
It’s been quite a struggle to get Atlas Shrugged on the screen. For over 20 years people have been trying, and at one point not long ago it looked like it was going to go ahead with Charlize Theron starring and would get made with a decent budget. However when that fell through, John Aglialoro, the man who owns the rights to the book, had a problem. He’d have lost the rights to the novel if he didn’t start shooting a movie almost immediately, so he rounded up a no-name cast, and hired One Tree Hill actor Paul Johansson, who’d never directed a movie before, to helm the low budget flick. As a result we now have the trailer for what’s envisioned as the first of a four part adapatation of Ayn Rand’s dense tome, although with the film looking like a rather confusing TV flick, don’t expect to see Parts II-IV anytime soon. Indeed many have said making the film was more to ensure Agliaro could keep the right while he worked on getting a bigger version together, than because anyone wanted this one to succeed. But click below to take a look anyway.
11-11-11 Teaser Trailer – Things will get creepy on November 11th
It’s not often that a film comes along that was inspired by a date, but it was the fact that the 11th of November this year – 11-11-11 – fell on a Friday (the day films come out) that served as the initial impetus for Dareen Lynn Bousman’s (Saw sequels, Repo) upcoming creepy flick. The film suggests there’s an 11-11 phenomenon, where strange things happen when two or more elevens get together, so that at 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month of 2011, the combination is powerful enough that an entity from another world can attempt to enter the earthly realm through Heaven’s 11th gate. If you can’t guess the film’s release date, you’re a moron, but click below for the teaser trailer.
X-Men: First Class Trailer – Get your first look at the 1960s mutants
As promised to us, the X-Men: First Class trailer has hit the web, giving us our first view of the mutants back in the 1960s, around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. To be honest the trailer doesn’t show us too much, as it’s more interested in introducing the idea of it being a prequel, tying it to what general audiences have seen before, and that it’ll show us how friends Professor X and Magneto got their mutant names and went from friend to enemies. Nevertheless, while it’s a bit difficult to say too much about the film just from this trailer, I can’t help but hope the actual film isn’t as po-faced and serious as this promo suggests. Click below to take a look. The film hits cinemas early June.
Arthur Trailer – Helen Mirren takes on Russell Brand in the new remake
When the idea of remaking the Dudley Moore comedy Arthur was first mooted, it’s fair to say most people were dubious, and the news Russell Brand was taking on the title role gave people even more pause. However from the evidence of this trailer it might actually be an awful lot of fun, with the role really playing to Brand’s anarchic strengths, anchored by Helen Mirren, who gets a relatively rare chance to show off her comedic talents. She play’s Arthur’s nanny, taking over from John Giegud’s Oscar-winning butler role in the original. The movie hits cinemas in April, but click below to take a look at the trailer.
New Hop Trailer – Russell Brand poops candy
Ever since it was first announced, Hop has sounded rather peculiar, with Russell Brand as the teenage son of the Easter Bunny, who decides he doesn’t want to deliver springtime chocolate and head to Hollywood. However his dream are rather waylaid after he gets run over by out-of-work slacker Fred (who in this trailer seems to have a rather spiffy house for someone who’s down on their luck). Feigning injury the bunny becomes Fred’s unruly and rather unwanted houseguest. It’s all rather bizarre, and this trailer doesn’t make it seem any less strange, with Brand’s rabbit at one point shitting jelly beans! Hop hits cinemas on April 1st, but click below for the new trailer.
