While Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood hit US cinemas last Friday, it doesn’t reach the UK until April 15th. However, if you want to know a bit more about the movie, a new featurette has shown up online, in which the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman and Shiloh Fernandez discuss the movie and its medieval tale of a romance and a village being terrorised by a werewolf. Conan The Barbarian (2011) Teaser Trailer – Apparently he lives in a weird smoke world
We had the motion poster a few days ago and now comes the teaser trailer for Conan The Barbarian in 3D. To be honest it’s not the best promo in the world, mainly just showing us weird looking people floating around in a strange smoke world, while they tell us stuff in voiceover. It doesn’t really do much more than announce that the film exists, which I suppose it mainly what it was created for, but I sure hope we get some proper footage soon, as it’s quite intriguing imagining what direction they’ll go with the fantasy film, especially with Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder, Friday The 13th) directing. The action packed retelling of the origin of Robert E. Howard’s classic hero, Conan the Cimmerian, hits UK cinemas August 19th.
The Smurfs Trailer – Can the little blue ones escape Gargamel in New York?
While some people have been dubious about the idea of taking The Smurfs to America and putting them on the big screen, which wasn’t allayed by the release of a teaser trailer, now a full trailer has been released, so we can get a better feel for whether CGI mini-blue people will work in the cinema. It’s all very dramatic, to start with at least, but then we get what we expected, Smurfs causing choas in the life of Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays, as well as a look at Gargamel (Hank Azaria). The trailer definitely tries to suggest there’s something for adults and kids alike. Click below to take a look. The Smurfs hits cinemas on August 10th.
Cars 2 – Sneak Peak – John Lasseter talks about where the idea for the film came from
Lightning McQueen, Mater and co. are back this summer in Disney/Pixar’s Cars 2, and now a sneak peak has shown up online, in which director John Lasseter discusses the film and more particularly the inspiration for the movie and its trip around the world. It’s well worth a look (as it is most times when Pixar people talk), so click below to take a look.
Here’s the official synopsis: T Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in Cars 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the worlds fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Maters action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
John Lasseter returns to the drivers seat to direct this follow-up to his 2006 Golden Globe®-winning Cars. Cars 2 is co-directed by Brad Lewis, producer of the Oscar®-winning film Ratatouille, and produced by visual effects industry veteran Denise Ream (associate producer, Up; visual effects executive producer, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith).
Cars 2 hits cinemas July 22nd.
New Bad Teacher Trailer – Now with less swearing, but just as much Cameron Diaz
In the last few weeks we’ve had a rather rude red band trailer, a poster and now comes the far less swear-y green band trailer for Bad Teacher. Cameron Diaz plays a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher, who after getting dumped, sets her sights on the the school’s model teacher (Justin Timberlake), who’s the heir to a watch fortune. This puts her into conflict with his another of the school’s teachers, played by Lucy Punch. There’s also Jason Segel in there, as a nice guy sports teacher, and presumably the man Diaz’s character eventually realises is the real guy of her dreams. Click below for the new trailer. The film hits cinemas this summer.
Insidious UK Trailer – ‘It’s not the house that’s haunted. It’s your son!’
Orignally announced as ‘The Further’, but now called Insidious, the latest movie from Saw director James Wan (backed by Paranormal Activity producers Jason Blum, Oren Peli and Steven Schneider) looks like it could be pretty effective, or unbelievably silly, we can’t decide quite which. Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne star as a couple dealing with the fact their son has fallen into a coma. However this is no ordinary coma, as evil supernatural entities are keeping the child’s consciousness in a realm called The Further, and refusing to allow it to return! As a woman in the new UK trailer says, “It’s not the house that’s haunted. It’s your son.” I presume that means that at some point in the movie, Yvette Fielding and Derek Acorah will want to hold a Most Haunted vigil inside him. Insidious is in UK cinemas 6th May 2011
