The Bang Bang Club Trailer – Taylor Kitsch & Ryan Phillippe turn combat photographers

22nd March 2011 By Tim Isaac

The world of the compbat photographer is a strange one – supposedly passive witnesses to barbarism and misery, who hope that by getting images out to the wider world they can help, and make a living of course. That’s the subject of The Bang Bang Club, about four real-lide young combat photographers – Greg Marinovich, Joao Silva, Kevin Carter and Ken Oosterbroek – bonded by friendship and their sense of purpose to tell the truth. They risked their lives and used their camera lenses to tell the world of the brutality and violence associated with the first free elections in post Apartheid South Africa in the early 90s. This intense political period brought out their best work (two won Pulitzers during the period) but cost them a heavy price. Click below for the trailer. No UK release date has been set.

New Pirates Of The Caribbean Trailer – More plot and action this time around with Captain Jack

21st March 2011 By Tim Isaac

After last week’s plethora of character posters, Disney has released a new trailer for the upcoming Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. While the first trailer for the film concentrated on comedy, this time around there’s far more action and plot, with talk of the fountain of youth, Blackbeard taking Jack Sparrow’s beloved Black Pearl and the need to get a mermaid. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem the uder the sea folk are quite as sweet-natured as Disney’s Ariel, and could prove a bit of a challenge. It all looks like a lot of fun. The film hits cinemas May 20th, but click below for the new trailer.

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold Trailer – Morgan Spurlock looks into branding and product placement

21st March 2011 By Tim Isaac

With Morgan Spurlock’s The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, there’s been a lot of talk about whether making a movie about branding, product placement and advertising by funding it with branding, product placement and advertising is clever or if it’s just a smoke and mirrors trick that makes the film less punchy than it might otherwise have been. The documentary essentially follows Spurlock – director of Super Size Me – as he looks into the labyrinthine world of corporate marketing largely by attemptin to fund his movie by getting companies to sponsor and place their products in it. It’s an interesting idea, and certainly throws up a lot of questions. It should reach the UK later this year, but click below for the trailer.

Second Sucker Punch Animated Short – Dragon – More weirdness tied to Zack Snyder’s upcoming flick

18th March 2011 By Tim Isaac

The second of a series of animated shorts tied to Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch has arrived, and like the first, Trenches, it’s kind of cool, but rather strange and difficult to know how it ties into the movie. Also like Trenches it’s a bit of a genre mash-up, starting off looking like fantasy Lord Of The Rings world, before airplane bombers come in and start shooting. Hopefully it’ll all make more sense when Sucker Punch reaches cinemas on April 1st. Click below for the Dragon short.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II – First Look Featurette – New footage of the Battle Of Hogwarts

18th March 2011 By Tim Isaac

The push for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II has started in earnest, with the announcement of a gigantic world premiere in July that will stretch from Trafalgar Square to Leicester Square and now a first look featurette, with the cast and crew talking about how awesome it’ll be (they were hardly going to say anything else, were they?) and plenty of footage of the Battle Of Hogwarts and Harry facing down Voldemort in their decisive face-off. The film is guaranteed to be one of the biggest of the years, and may be the first Potter flick to break a billion at the worldwide box office. It’ll hit cinemas July 15th, but click below for the first look featurette.

Friends With Benefits Trailer – Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis want casual sex!

17th March 2011 By Tim Isaac

If No Strings Attached had been a big success it might have torpedoed the chances of the similarly themed Friends With Benefits, but as the Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher flick came and went with barely anyone noticing it, that leaves the field wide open for the upcoming Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis movie. They play two people who’ve just come out of difficult relationships who decide to fulfil their sexual needs with one another without any emotional attachement. But wouldn’t you know it, they find it tougher to have no strings sex than they thought (which I suppose is necessary for the plot, as otherwise it’d just be a porno). The film is out this July, but click below for the trailer, or if you want a slightly ruder look at the movie, click here for the red band promo that was released a couple of months ago.
