The Skin I Live In Teaser Trailer – First look at Pedro Almodovar’s latest, starring Antonio Banderas

9th May 2011 By Tim Isaac

It’s been many years (almost 20) since Pedro Almodovar last teamed up with Antonio Banderas, but they’ve reunited for The Skin I Live In, a strange looking new film which debuts in competition at Cannes later this month. The first teaser for the movie has now arrived, with Banderas facing off against a plastic-masked woman! Click below to take a look. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Ever since his wife was burned in a car crash, Dr. Robert Ledgard, an eminent plastic surgeon, has been interested in creating a new skin with which he could have saved her. After twelve years, he manages to cultivate a skin that is a real shield against every assault. In addition to years of study and experimentation, Robert needed a further three things: no scruples, an accomplice and a human guinea pig. Scruples were never a problem. Marilia, the woman who looked after him from the day he was born, is his most faithful accomplice. And as for the human guinea pig…’

Columbiana Trailer – Zoe Saldana kicks some ass

6th May 2011 By Tim Isaac

Zoe Saldana has shown much promise in the likes of Star Trek, and now she gets a chance to chine on her own in Columbiana. She plays a young woman who, after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. As it’s directed by Transporter 3’s ridiculously named Olivier Megaton and written by the guys behind Taken, we can expect plenty of OTT action. It’ll be in cinemas later this year, but click below to watch the trailer.

X-Men: First Class Character Trailers – Introduce yourself to Banshee, Beast and Havoc

6th May 2011 By Tim Isaac

It’s only a few weeks now until X-Men: First Class arrives in cinemas on June 1st, and so Fox has decided it’s time we got to meet some of the new mutants (or in the case of Beast, a younger version of someone we’ve met before). Three new character trailers have arrived (via MTV), one each for Caleb Landry Jones’ Sean Cassidy, AKA Banshee, another for Luca Till’s Alex Summers, AKA Havok (and brother of Cyclops), and the final one for Nicholas Hoult Hank McCoy, AKA Beast. There’s plenty of rather cool footage to take a look at, from Beast transforming to Havok releasing his plasma bolts – although to be honest it’s Banshee’s sonic blasts that look most intriguing.

NSFW Swinging With The Finkels Trailer – Mandy Moore & Martin Freeman wife-swap with Angus Deayton!

6th May 2011 By Tim Isaac

Not that many people do wife-swapping anymore (it’s certainly not like the days of The Ice Storm), but it may be the only thing that can save Martin Freeman and Mandy Moore’s relationship in Swinging With The Finkels.

Here’s the official synopsis: Swinging with the Finkels tells the story of Alvin and Ellie Finkel played by British comedy favourite Martin Freeman (The Office, soon to be seen in the title role as The Hobbit) and US film, music and TV star Mandy Moore (License to Wed, Tangled), a couple living in London at breaking point in their relationship. As two young students, Alvin and Ellie met at university and fell in love. Ten years later they are now married with successful careers and very little time for eachother. They are getting dangerously close to falling out of love…

As the marriage of their closest friends Peter and Janet, played by US comedy star Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie’s) and Australian actress Melissa George (30 Days of Night), hits the rocks after Peter embarks on a steamy affair, the Finkels are encouraged to analyse their relationship and decide whether they have a marriage worth saving. Do they stay together and continue with their increasingly stale relationship, or should they attempt to relight the flame that they are both missing? Would sex toys be the answer? Will dressing up and role play help spice things up? Or should they indulge in the ultimate marriage scruple of wife swapping? Alvin and Ellie are about to discover whether swinging is the answer to their marital problems…

The film hits cinemas June 17th. Click below for the slightly rude trailer. Oh, and I apologise in advance for the brief shot of Louis Spence, who I can only pray will be cut out of the final film.

New Green Lantern Trailer – In brightest day, in blackest night…

5th May 2011 By Tim Isaac

A new full trailer for Green Lantern has arrived, so you can take a look and see what you think of Ryan Reynolds CG suit for yourself. It does all look pretty cool, although rather different to most other superhero flicks. Here’s the synopsis: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all. Green Lantern hits cinemas June 17th.
