Although the last installment was a bit of a disappointment, The Final Destination series has been surprisingly consistent, both in terms of entertainment value and how profitable it’s been for the studio behind it – hence another sequel arriving this summer. Once more someone has a premonition of a terrible disaster, this time a terrifying suspension bridge collapse, which allows him to save a group of co-worker. But of course this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda. Click below for the trailer. It should hit cinemas on August 26th.
New Real Steel Trailer – Explosive robot boxing madness with Hugh Jackman
While the idea of a movie about bccing robots always sounded rather cool, the first teaser trailer for the movie didn’t reallly have enough bot-on-bot action to give us a proper feel for Real Steel. However now a new promo has arrived, which has plenty of very impressive looking robot effects, as well as a better look at the film’s story. Here’s the synopsis: A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.’ The film hits cinemas, October 7th, 2011.
First Clip & Poster From Drive – Ryan Gosling in Nicolas Winding Refn’s flick
Drive will premiere later this month in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. It’s an interesting debut as the film starte life as a fairly generic action flick that was going to star Hugh Jackman and be directed by Neill Marshall, but became something slightly different when Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson) came on to direct and Ryan Gosling signed on to star. Now the first poster and clip for the film have arrived, via the Cannes website. You can see the poster above and the clip below. In the film Gosling plays a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman, and discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist goes wrong. It’s currently scheduled to hit cinemas in September.
Retreat Trailer – Cillian Murphy & Thandie Newton deal with a duplicitous Jamie Bell
It seems Retreat is going to make ITV’s Holidays From Hell look a little pathetic, as it follows Kate (Thandie Newton) and Martin (Cillian Murphy), who escape from personal tragedy to an island retreat. Cut off from the outside world, their attempts to recover are shattered when a man (Jamie Bell) is washed ashore, with news of airborne killer disease that is sweeping through Europe. However can he be trusted? We’re betting that he can’t. Click below to watch the trailer.
Intruders Teaser Trailer – First look at Clive Owen and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s new horror
Following the success of 28 Weeks Later, it’s taken director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo quite a long time to come up with his follow-up, Intruders. Split between tales in Spain and London, both involve a gruesome faceless creatures that enter’s children’s bedroom, which somehow seems as if it’s moved from the realm of imagination into reality. Clive Owen is the father of the girl under attack in the London part of the tale, and in this first teaser he doesn’t seem too impressed with the creepy goings-on. Click below to take a look. Intruders is currently set for release in October.
