The Guilt Trip Trailer – Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen are mother and son

4th October 2012 By Tim Isaac

Barbra Streisand hasn’t taken a starring role in a movie since The Mirror Has Two Faces in 1996 (although there were of course her Fockers appearances), but she’s coming back for The Guilt Trip, starring alongside Seth Rogen. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Andy Brewster (Rogen) is about to embark on the road trip of a lifetime, and who better to accompany him than his overbearing mother Joyce (Streisand). After deciding to start his adventure with a quick visit at mom’s, Andy is guilted into bringing her along for the ride. Across 3,000 miles of ever-changing landscape, he is constantly aggravated by her antics, but over time he comes to realize that their lives have more in common than he originally thought. His mother’s advice might end up being exactly what he needs. The movie, from Proposal helmer Anne Fletcher, is due out in the UK on February 22nd, 2013.

The First Time Trailer – Trying to lose your virginity in the Sundance hit

3rd October 2012 By Tim Isaac

Ever since its Sundance debut, Jon Kasdan’s The First Time has been getting praise as a particularly fun and charming example of the well-worn teen movie subgenre of people trying to get laid for the first time. The movie hits US cinemas on October 19th, but no UK date is currently set. In the film, Dave (Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien) is a high school senior who spends most of his time pining away over a girl he can’t have. Aubrey (Secret Circle’s Britt Robertson), a junior with artistic aspirations, has a hot boyfriend who doesn’t quite understand her or seem to care. Dave and Aubrey meet one night at a party. A casual conversation sparks an instant connection, and, over the course of a weekend, things turn magical, romantic, complicated and funny as Aubrey and Dave discover what it’s like to fall in love for the first time.

The Lone Ranger Trailer – Plus the first poster for the movie

3rd October 2012 By Tim Isaac

The first trailer for The Lone Ranger has shown up online, and while we had a rather wonky embed earlier on, you can now enjoy it in all its glory thanks to this version from Disney itself. It’s interesting that the trailer plays up the action and intrigue, rather than the humour and wild west setting. Expect to see a lot more in the run up to the July 2013 release of the movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes.Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.’

New Silver Linings Playbook Trailer – The David O. Russell film gets a little more crazy

1st October 2012 By Tim Isaac

Silver Linings Playbook has been getting pretty good buzz at festival screenings ahead of its UK release on November 21st, and now a new trailer has arrived to give us a fresh look at the film. David O. Russell’s film has an incredible cast including Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Julia Stiles and Chris Tucker (making his first non Rush Hour film appearance since Jackie Brown in 1997). Here’s the synopsis: ‘Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Pat Solatano (Cooper) has lost everything – his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet – and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany (Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.’

New Extra-Long The Master Trailer Debuts – Take a fresh look at PT Anderson’s enigmatic movie

28th September 2012 By Tim Isaac

Here’s an interesting one. The Master has already been out in the States for a couple of weeks, but to thank fans for its success, director Paul Thomas Anderson has decided to release a new, extra-long trailer for the movie. You might wonder why fans would want thanks with a trailer, but the intriguing thing is that like earlier promos, it features a lot of footage that didn’t make the final film, or which shows things from a different angle. Many people have spoken about the film’s enigmatic nature, and this certainly seems to add to that. We in the UK will get to see whether The Master is all it’s cracked up to be hwne it opens on November 2nd.
