New Django Unchained Trailer – More from the Quentin Tarantino movie

11th October 2012 By Tim Isaac

A Quentin Tarantino movie is bound to get people excited, and that’s certainly true of Django Unchained. Now a new trailer for the film has arrived, to get up the anticipation ahead of the January 18th UK release. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

‘Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

‘Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (amuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival.’

The Canyons Teaser Trailer – James Deen & Lindsay Lohan go grindhouse

9th October 2012 By Tim Isaac

While a few porn stars have had minor success in legit movie (Traci Lords probably being the most famous), James Deen (born Bryan Matthew Sevilla) is making his bid with the Canyons, which also stars Lindsay Lohan and Gus Van Sant. Bret Easton Ellis is behind the script, with Paul Schrader directing. Now a teaser trailer has emerged, suggesting this is a tale that will have a very grindhouse, sexploitation feel. Here’s the synopsis: ‘The Canyons is a contemporary L.A. noir from director Paul Schrader, writer Bret Easton Ellis, and producer Braxton Pope about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20?s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.’ No release date is currently set.

Tarzan Trailer – Kellan Lutz goes 3D mo-cap as the jungle dweller

8th October 2012 By Tim Isaac

It looks like we’re going back into the uncanny valley with a new version of Tarzan, which is being made in Germany but has Twilight star Kellan Lutz donning a motion capture suit to play Edgar Rice Burrough’s man raised by apes. A teaser for the film has now arrived, showing Tarzan swinging through the jungle. The animation looks pretty good, although whether audiences will respond to this new take on the tale remains to be seen. It should be released next year.

Broken City Trailer – Mark Wahlberg investigates a corrupt Russell Crowe

5th October 2012 By Tim Isaac

Personally I don’t think I’ll be queueing up for Broken City as Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe are two of my least favourite actors, but a lot of people like them and the trailer for Broken City does make the movie seem like it might be okay. The film follows Billy Taggart (Wahlberg), a former cop who is hired to tail the cheating wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones) of the city’s corrupt mayor (Crowe). Taggart successfully finds the man that the woman is sleeping with, but it’s not until after the man has been murdered. The movie’s supporting cast includes Barry Pepper, Kyle Chandler, Jeffrey Wright, Griffin Dunne, James Ransone, and Justin Chambers. The movie is currently set for UK release on January 25th, 2013.
