Jessica Chastain is looking a bit goth in Mama, but that’s the least of her problems, as she and hubbt Lucas are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces who have been left alone in the forest for 5 years… but how alone were they? On the evidence of this trailer, they had plenty of creepy company from Mama, and she’s pissed! The Guillermo Del Toro produced film should hit cinemas early next year.
Life Of Pi – Impossible Journey Featurette – How did the ‘unfilmable book’ make it to the screen
Ever since the idea of turning Yann Martel’s award-winning book Life Of Pi into a movie was first mooted, people have wondered how on Earth you’d turn a book that’s largely about a boy and a tiger trapped out at sea into a film. However Ang Lee has managed it, and at its film festival screenings it’s been getting some good reviews. Now a featurette has arrived looking at the challenge the filmmakers faced, and how even Martel himself thought his book was unfilmable. Life Of Pi hits UK cinemas on December 20th in 2D and 3D.
New Jack Reacher Trailer – Tom Cruise has no limits!
A new trailer for Tom Cruise’s upcoming thriller Jack Reacher has arrived, which gives things an oddly (and I presume deliberately James Bond-ish feel). The movie, which is out December 21st, sees Tom as Lee Childs’ exmilitary investigator, Jack Reacher. He looks into the case of a trained military sniper who shot five random victims, an investigator that gets ever deeper and darker. As the trailer proves, it looks like Cruise is in intense mode for this one, although there’s a perhaps surprisingly humourous edge.
Carrie Teaser Trailer – Take your first look at Chloe Moretz in the upcoming remake
It’s all going up in flames in the remake of Carrie – at least that’s what this teaser trailer promises, with Chloe Moretz covered in blood, after having gone a bit pyrokinetic. The film is a reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White, a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. The movie’s due out April 5th, 2013.
Zero Dark Thirty Trailer – Kathryn Bigelow’s look at the hunt for Osama gets a full trailer
Kathryn Bigelow’s Hurt Locker follow-up, Zero Dark Thirty, has already proven controversial due to the supposedly priviledged access President Obama gave the filmmakers to the operation to hunt down Osama Bin Laden. Now a new trailer for the movie is here. The film focuses on the black ops mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, which culminated in his death during a high-stakes raid on his compound in Pakistan. Kyle Chandler, Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton and Mark Strong star.
New Gangster Squad Trailer – Ryan Gosling and co. take on the mobsters
The release of Gangster Squad was thrown into disarray after the Aurora Dark Knight Rises shootings, as one of the main scenes towards the end saw gangsters opening fire in a cinema. The result was the release got pushed back to January and major reshoots were needed to add a new ending. Now the promotion of the movie is gearing up again, with a new poster and a great new trailer. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and – if he has his way – every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.’ The movie hits cinemas January 11th.
