During the years Don Coscarelli was trying to put together a sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep, Paul Giamatti was said to be all ready to star in it. However when that didn’t pan out, Giamatti signed on for Coscarelli’s John Dies At The End instead, which as this trailer shows, is going to be a rather strange sci-fi trip. Here’s the slighly odd synopsis: ‘It’s a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can’t.’ The movie should be out sometime next year.
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Red Band Trailer – The fairytale world is getting a lot more gory
If all had gone to the original plan, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters would have hit cinemas last spring, but it got delayed (some have suggested because it’s not that great, others have said that movie was waiting for Jeremy Renner to get more famous). Now it’s set for release early next year (March 15th to be exact), and the a new red band trailer has arrived, giving us a look at the movie, which sees Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown up versions of the fairy tale characters, who now work as bounty hunters tracking down witches. If you were thinking this was going to be all buttercups and fairytale prettiness, think again, as it’s going to have plenty of blood and guts, along with a dark sense of humour.
New Trailer For Quartet Arrives – Take a fresh look at Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut
It’s interesting that after a 50-year acting career, Dustin Hoffman would decide that his directorial debut should be about British retirees, but considering the success of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, perhaps he’s onto something. Quartet, based on Ronald Harwood’s play, screened at the London Film Festival a few days ago, and now a new trailer has arrive. The film is about Cecily (Pauline Collins), Reggie (Tom Courteney) and Wilfred (Billy Connolly), who are in a home for retired opera singers. Every year, on October 10the, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday and they take part. Jean (Maggie Smith), who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva, but she refuses to sing. Still, the show must go on… and it does. The film is currently due out in the UK on January 4th, 2013.
New A Good Day To Die Hard Trailer Hits – John McClane takes his unique brand of devastation international
A few weeks ago we had a brief teaser for A Good Day To Die Hard, but now we get slightly more in a new promo for the film, which concentrates on the fact that having caused plenty of destruction in the US, John McClane is now heading to Moscow to blow that up too. Once in Russia he teams up with his estranged son (Jai Courtney) to take down some bad guys. The film’s due out February 14th, 2013, so it’ll be a Valentine’s movie for the guys.
The Evil Dead Red Band Teaser – First look at the Raimi produced remake
Although a lot of people’s knee-jerk reaction to the idea of remaking The Evil Dead has been less than positive, that fact Sam Raimi’s been involved has given many pause to wonder whether it might end up okay. Now the first teaser has arrived, which largely seems designed to show that the elements from the original people loved will still be present, and there’ll still be plenty of blood, guts and gore. It certainly looks a lot shinier than Raimi’s original, but there’s plenty of promise here. Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.’ It’ll hit cinemas next April.
Safe Haven Trailer – Julianne Hough enters Nicholas Sparks world
Hollywood simply can’t get enough of Nicholas Sparks. After the success of The Notebook we’ve had Nights In Rodanthe, Dear John, The Last Song, The Lucky One and now Safe Haven. The film is due out early next year, and now the trailer has arrived. Here’s the synopsis: ‘When a mysterious young woman named Katie (Julianne House) appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex (Josh Duhamel), a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo (Sobie Smulder). Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family. But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport.’ Lasse Hallstrom directs, who also helmed Dear John.
