A Haunted House Red Band Trailer – Marlon Wayans is back in Scary Movie territory

17th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

The Wayans Brothers had great success with the Scary Movie franchise, but Shawn and Marlon Wayans left that series behind after the second movie. However Marlon still thinks there’s money to be made in horror parodies, so he’s co-written and stars in A Haunted House, which takes Paranormal Activity as its main target of fun.

The new red band trailer doesn’t exactly make it look like a comedy masterpiece, but then Scary Movie wasn’t exactly great, but still proved popular.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In an outrageous send up of the Paranormal Activity movies, The Devil Inside and other “found footage” movies, A HAUNTED HOUSE features young couple Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins) who have just moved in to their dream house. As they settle in, they quickly find they’re not alone. But it’s not the house that’s haunted, it’s Malcolm’s girlfriend who is possessed by a demon. Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghostbusters to rid her of this unwelcome intruder, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationship… or, more importantly, his sex life.’ No UK release date is set yet, but it reaches US cinemas January 11th.

I’m So Excited Teaser – First look at Pedro Almodovar’s latest

15th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

Pedro Almodovar is back with I’m So Excited. He recently said his new movie is more of a simple fun flick than some of his more recent films, and that certainly seem true from this very camp teaser, which feels three male flight attendants lip-syncing to the Pointer Sisters’ song I’m So Excited during a flight.

The film features Javier Camara, Cecilia Roth, Lola Duenas, Raul Arevalo, Carlos Areces, Antonio de la Torre, Hugo Silva, and apparently has ‘special collaborations’ with Penelope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega, although we’re not quite sure what that means.

Almodovar’s comedy is due to hit cinemas next year.

New Zero Dark Thirty Trailer – Fresh look at Kathryn Bigelow’s acclaimed film

14th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

There may have been a bit of controversy over scenes of torture in Zero Dark Thirty (with people saying the film supports it), but Kathryn Bigelow’s movie about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden has emerged as one of the front-runners at the Oscars. Now a new trailer has arrived to give us a fresh look at the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘For a decade, an elite team of intelligence and military operatives, working in secret across the globe, devoted themselves to a single goal: to find and eliminate Osama bin Laden. Zero Dark Thirty reunites the Oscar winning team of director-producer Kathryn Bigelow and writer-producer Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) for the story of history’s greatest manhunt for the world’s most dangerous man.’

The film reaches UK cinemas on January 25th.

New G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer – Channing Tatum is back in action, alongside Bruce Willis & The Rock

13th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

When GI Joe: Retaliation’s release was delayed from last August to next March, the official reason was so that  they could convert it to 3D. However many wondered if there were major problems with the movie, which seemed to be confirmed when reshoots were ordered. However it now seems that the main issue was that Paramount made a major miscalculation about Channing Tatum.

He was the main star of the first GI Joe film, but then they decided that while he’d be in the follow-up (his contract meant he had little choice in the matter), he’d be majorly sidelined. Then he became one of the biggest stars around thanks to the likes of Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street, and so the reshoots were apparently mainly about reinserting him as a main character. That’s noticeable is this new trailer, as in earlier marketing Tatum was pretty much invisible – he didn’t even make it into many of the posters or trailers at all. Now he’s very visible at the beginning and end of this new trailer, alongside newbies Bruce Willis and The Rock. The film hits UK cinemas March 27th, 2013.

You’ll also notice that London isn’t going to come out of GI Joe: Retaliation very well.

Pacific Rim Trailer – Giant monsters and robots, what more do you want?

13th December 2012 By Tim Isaac

Pacific Rim look slike it could be an awful lot of fun. Just the idea is great – 300ft tall monsters are spewing out of a portal deep beneath the Pacific and attacking the coast, and so humanity fights back with gargantuan robots piloted by people. Now the first trailer for the movie has arrived, which makes it look even better, shot through with Guillermo Del Toro’s signature style.

It’s a movie that’s going to be told on a massive scale, with huge amounts of very cool special effects. Thankfully the trailer also gives us a little bit of the plot, suggesting someone is sending these monsters and we don’t know who.

The film is due out July 12th, 2013, but enjoy the trailer and new poster above and below.
