About Last Night Red Band Trailer – Kevin Hart and co. get a bit lusty

18th February 2013 By Tim Isaac

David Mamet’s play Sexual Perversity In Chicago, which got a loose adaptation as About Last Night – starring Rob Lowe and Demi Moore – in 1986. Now it’s coming back with a largely African-American do-over, although it’s been suggested that this About Last Night will be closer to Mamet’s original.

Leslye Headland’s script follows two couples, one of whom seem perfectly suited for one another, but things go horribly wrong when they move in together. The other two are the squabbling best friends of the other couple who form their own bond. Michael Ealy, Joy Bryant, Kevin Hart, Regina Hall and Adam Rodriguez star.

We’re getting this trailer very early, as apparently it’s not hitting US cinemas for a full year (and no UK date is set yet).

New The Host Trailer – Fresh look at the Stephenie Meyer sci-fi adaptation

15th February 2013 By Tim Isaac

Previous looks at The Host have deliberately made it look like the new Twilight, which isn’t surprising considering it’s also based on a novel by Stephenie Meyers. However this new trailer allows it to be its own beast, playing up the sci-fi and action more than the romance.

In The Host, our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed, including Soarise Ronan’s main character, Melanie Stryder. However while normally the human is completely subdued by their host, in Melanie’s case, her personality flashes through, intriguing her Host, known as Wanda, and setting them off on a quest to find the last free humans. Ronan, Jake Abel, Max Irons and William Hurt star in the movie.

The film hits cinemas in both the UK and US on March 29th.

New The Company You Keep Trailer – Shia LaBeouf is looking for Robert Redford

15th February 2013 By Tim Isaac

At festival screenings last year, there was a fair amount of praise for The Company You Keep, which marks Robert Redford’s first on-screen appearance since 2007’s Lions For Lambs.

He play a former Weather Underground militant who’s been wanted by the FBI for 30 years, but is forced out of hiding and on the lam when a young journalist (Shia LaBeouf) uncovers his true identity. The script is adapted from the novel of the same name by Neil Gordon.

It hits US cinemas in late April, with a June 8th UK release set.

Two Mothers Trailer – Naomi Watts and Robin Wright want to sleep with each other’s sons

15th February 2013 By Tim Isaac

A movie about two women who want to sleep with each other’s sons sounds like it’s either going to be something sleazy or some sort of grossout comedy, but Two Mothers is actually based on a novella by Nobel laureate Doris Lessing.

The movie sees Naomi Watts and Robin Wright as two women who’ve been friends for decades and live next to one another on an Aussie beach. However their idyllic but lonely lives get a little more complicated when the women start eyeing each others sons – Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville – with more than maternal affection.

Anne Fontaine’s film certainly looks intriguing, although whether it can handle its tricky subject matter is yet to be seen.

Second Fast & Furious 6 Trailer – More action from the upcoming flick

15th February 2013 By Tim Isaac

After the Superbowl we got our first look at Fast & Furious 6, and now just a couple weeks later a new trailer has arrived, giving us a fresh look at the latest instalment in the hit franchise, along with a new poster, featuring Paul Walker. Take a look at the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of all-stars as the global blockbuster franchise built on speed races to its next continent in Fast & Furious 6.  Reuniting for their most high-stakes adventure yet, fan favourites Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Elsa Pataky are joined by badass series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano.

‘Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe.  But their inability to return home and living forever on the run has left their lives incomplete.

‘Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organisation of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez).  The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London.  Payment?  Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.’

The movie hits cinemas May 24th.

The Internship Trailer – Vince Vaughn & Owen Wilson head for Google

14th February 2013 By Tim Isaac

It’s no surprise that with The Internship prominently featuring Google, the trailer has debuted on the company’s Youtube platform. However as with the previously released image and poster, I’m still not sure how much this is a movie and how much a Google ad.

In the movie, Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) are salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, they defy the odds by talking their way into a coveted internship – yes, you guessed it, at Google – along with a battalion of brilliant college students. But, gaining entrance to this utopia is only half the battle. Now they must compete with a group of the nation’s most elite, tech-savvy geniuses to prove that necessity really is the mother of re-invention.

Shawn Levy (Real Steel) directs, with a June 7th US release set, with the movie coming to the UK on July 4th.
