Girl Most Likely Trailer – Take a look at Kristen Wiig’s latest

4th March 2013 By Tim Isaac

Kristen Wiig’s latest, Girl Most Likely (aka Imogene) debuted last September at the Toronto International Film Festival, but it doesn’t reach the US until July and no UK date is currently set at all. Nevertheless we’ve now got a trailer, giving us a look at the quirky indie comedy.

Wiig plays Imogene, who stages a fake suicide in the hope of winning back her ex. However her plan works a bit too well, as everyone thinks she really was trying to kill herself and so they put her in the custody of her gambling addict mother (Annette Bening). Imogene is thrust back into a life she hoped she’d left behind, but discovers that perhaps the things she’s shunned are just what she needs.

Disconnect Trailer – Jason Bateman gets a bit dramatic

2nd March 2013 By Tim Isaac

I can’t help but wonder if Jason Bateman has been having a few problems with technology, which he’s now exploring on-screen. He recently starred in Identity Thief, where he has to deal with Melissa McCarthy stealing his details and pretending to be him. And now we’ve got a trailer for Disconnect, an ensemble drama all about the dangers of modern technology, which Bateman also stars in.

The movie follows ‘A hard-working lawyer, attached to his cell phone, can’t find the time to communicate with his family. A couple is drawn into a dangerous situation when their secrets are exposed online. A widowed ex-cop struggles to raise a mischievous son who cyber-bullies a classmate. An ambitious journalist sees a career-making story in a teen that performs on an adult-only site. They are strangers, neighbors and colleagues and their stories collide in this riveting dramatic thriller about ordinary people struggling to connect in today’s wired world.’

No UK date is set yet for this intriguing looking film, but it’s out in the US on April 12th. It’s certainly something more dramatic that we’re used to from Bateman, who ususally sticks to comedy.

New Oblivion Trailer Lands – Tom Cruise deals with a ruined Earth

1st March 2013 By Tim Isaac

While we have to wait until April 12th in the UK and April 19th in the US to find out whether the story of Oblivion works, this trailer certainly suggests Joseph Kosinski’s film is going to look amazing.

The film is set in a future where the surface of the Earth is ruined, Cruise plays a man who services the drones that ensure humanity can still get the natural resources it craves, even though it has had to abandon the surface and live in the sky. However he discovers that perhaps the way he believes this new world works is a lie, and as he investigates, he becomes a target himself.

As the trailer shows, Morgan Freeman may have some answers.

Final Oz The Great & Powerful Trailer Arrives – Heading into the wonderful world

1st March 2013 By Tim Isaac

It’s just a week until Oz The Great And Powerful hits cinemas on March 8th, and in case people weren’t excited enough, Disney has released a final trailer showing off the excitement and incredible visuals of Sam Raimi’s movie.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.’

We’ve already seen the movie and will be letting you know what we thought next week!

Hannibal Trailer – Take a look at the TV series prequel to the Lecter tales

1st March 2013 By Tim Isaac

While Silence Of The Lambs and Hannibal showed us what happened after Will Graham captured cannibal serial killer Hannibal Lecter, Red Dragon only let us know what happened when Will actually got his man and that he’d been working with the psychologist beforehand, not knowing Hannibal was the man he was hunting.

Now TV is going to tell us that story, with Hugh Dancy taking on the Will Graham role, with Mads Mikkelsen as Lecter. While some have wondered whether television will do Lecter justice, we get our first chance to take a look with a trailer.

It certainly looks like it could be interesting, with Hannibal playing with the FBI investigator and trying to get him to truly understand the mind of the killer. Laurence Fishburne also stars.

The show begins in the US in early April, and should hopefully reach the UK now long afterwards.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 Trailer – Take a look at the pun-tastic sequel

28th February 2013 By Tim Isaac

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs was a bigger hit than many expected, so it’s little surprise a sequel is coming. Now the first trailer for the movie has arrived, showing us just how many food puns it’s going to try and squeeze in.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s hit comedy left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood’s genius is finally being recognized as he’s invited by his idol Chester V to join The Live Corp Company, where the best and brightest inventors in the world create technologies for the betterment of mankind. Chester’s right-hand-gal – and one of his greatest inventions – is Barb (a highly evolved orangutan with a human brain, who is also devious, manipulative and likes to wear lipstick. It’s always been Flint’s dream to be recognized as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine (which turns water into food) is still operating and is now creating food-animal hybrids – “foodimals!” With the fate of humanity in his hands, Chester sends Flint and his friends on a dangerously delicious mission, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world again!’

The movie is due out in the UK on October 25th, with a late September debut for the US.
