The Colony Trailer – Laurence Fishburne & Bill Paxton are in an ice age

19th March 2013 By Tim Isaac

When Laurence Fishburne, Bill Paxton and Kevin Zegers signed on to star in The Colony, not much was revealed about the plot, other it ”revolves around a group of survivors forced underground by the next ice age. There, they must fight to preserve humanity against a savage threat.’

Now we get to see a bit more with the release of the first trailer. Coming Soon has a lengthier synopsis, which says, ‘Set during the next ice age, an outpost of colonists struggle to survive below the world’s frozen surface. Short on supplies, and plagued by illness and internal conflict, the colonists suspect the worst when they mysteriously lose contact with their only other known settlement, Colony 5. When Colony 7’s leader Briggs (Laurence Fishburne) decides to lead an expedition to discover what happened, he is challenged by Mason (Bill Paxton), his former comrade-in-arms, who has his own ideas of what is best for the colonists. Briggs takes two volunteers on the mission, the young Graydon, and Sam (Kevin Zegers), a strong-willed mechanic who seizes the opportunity to confront the icy wasteland that orphaned him. When they reach their destination, the team discover a threat much worse than nature and must battle to save themselves and protect their fellow colonists in what might be humanity’s last stand.’

No UK date is currently set, but it hits US theatres on April 12th.

Somebody Up There Likes Me Promo Has Great Fun – And Adam Scott is a dick, apparently

15th March 2013 By Tim Isaac

If you’re hoping to find out what Somebody Up There Likes Me is about from this NSFW promo, you’re out of luck. However it does tell us that Parks And Recreation’s Adam Scott is apparently a dick, while all you need for an independent film is pussy and weed. It’s very entertaining, so take a look. Bizarrely though, despite being in the promo, neither Adam Scott or Alison Brie is in the actual movie.

Rob Byington’s film is ‘A comedy about a man, his best friend, and the woman they both adore watching their lives fly by.’ It stars Nick Offerman, Keith Poulson, Jess Weixler and Megan Mullaly amongst others.

It’s in US cinemas now, although no UK date is set yet.

Tom Hooper May Take On Freddie Mercury Biopic – With Sacha Baron Cohen still attached

15th March 2013 By Tim Isaac

Sacha Baron Cohen may have only had a small role in Les Miserables, but director Tom Hooper must have liked working with him, as Deadline reports that they may reunite for a biopic of Freddie Mercury. Baron Cohen’s been attached to the movie for quite a long time, but the film has had a bit of revolving door of directors.

Hooper hasn’t officially signed on to direct yet, but he is apparently seriously considering it.

Peter Morgan’s script will deal with the star’s rise to fame, leading up to the classic performance at 1985’s Live Aid, and won’t cover his death from AIDS, which helped remove a lot of the stigma of the disease. The surviving members of Queen are all involved in the movie, ensuring the use of the band’s classic songs.

Queen themselves are involved in the film having licensed their most famous tracks, including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, We Will Rock you and Another One Bites The Dust for the movie. We’ll have to see whether Hooper does end up making the film.

The Alan Partridge Movie Teaser Trailer – Steve Coogan’s creation is going big screen

15th March 2013 By Tim Isaac

It was revealed a few weeks ago that a long-planned Alan Partridge movie was finally shooting. Now it’s been confirmed it will be called The Alan Partridge Movie, the first still is here (which you can see above), and you can watch a brand new teaser for the movie below!

Steve Coogan will be joined in the film by the likes of Sean Pertwee, Colm Meaney, Anna Maxwell Martin, Monica Dolan and Dustin Demri-Burns. They team up with Partridge veterans Felicity Montagu, Tim Key, Simon Greenall, Phil Cornwell, Nigel Lindsay and Darren Boyd, who’ll all be back for more madness.

Not too much has been revealed about the plot, other than that it will follow Alan trying to resurrect his flagging media career. Coogan, Neil and Rob Gibbons, Peter Baynham and Armando Iannucci wrote the film, with Declan Lowney directing. It’s currently due out in the UK on August 13th.

The Lone Ranger International Trailer – Exploding even bigger in Japanese

14th March 2013 By Tim Isaac

The voiceover and text in this new international trailer might be in Japanese, but you don’t really need to translate special effects and explosions, so it’s definitely worth taking a look.

There’s plenty of new footage to give us a taste of the big budget take on the classic western.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero  is brought to life through new eyes.  Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.’

The film hits cinema on August 9th 2013.

New Scary Movie 5 Trailer Hits – Do we need another one? Charlie Sheen thinks so

14th March 2013 By Tim Isaac

I can’t imagine there are many people who’ve spent the last six years praying we’d get another Scary Movie film, but it’s coming anyway, with an April 12th release set and a second trailer to try and win us over to more horror spoofery.

Mainly based around Paranormal Activity, with plenty of other movie reference chucked in, the film stars Ashley Tisdale, Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Jerry O’Connell and Terry Crews, among others.

I’m ready to bet already that this won’t win next year’s Best Picture Oscar.
