The Bling Ring Trailer – Emma Watson robs Paris Hilton’s house!

24th April 2013 By Tim Isaac

Emma Watson spent years playing a goody-two-shoes in Harry Potter, but she’s certainly letting her hair down in Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring. The film is set to premiere next month at Cannes, but before then a trailer has been released, giving us a look at Watson as a high-end thief.

The drama is based on the true story of six teenagers, known as The Bling Ring, who broke into the homes of Hollywood celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and The Hills’ Audrina Patridge, making off with over $3 million in stolen goods from October 2008 to August 2009.

Emma Watson, Leslie Mann and Paris Hilton (as herself) all star, while Kirsten Dunst and Gavin Rossdale have cameos. There’s also a bunch of newcomers, including Georgia Rock, Israel Broussard, Emma Watson, Katie Chang, and Claire Pfister.

Thor: The Dark World Teaser Trailer – Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston return to Asgard

23rd April 2013 By Tim Isaac

With the release of Iron Man 3 in some parts of the world this week, Marvel is introducing us the next part of their Phase 2 onslaught – Thor: The Dark World. Interestingly, while some weren’t big fans of the Asgardian parts of the first film, Marvel isn’t shying away from that part of Thor-lore. It seems the sequel will only be on Earth for a bit, so that Thor can pick up Natalie Portman and take her to Asgard.

Indeed, the sequel suggests they’re beefing up to sword and sorcery side of Thor, with the whole thing feeling rather Arthurian. Many will also be pleased to see that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is back too, and as he’s become a bit of a fan favourite, it’ll be interesting to see if they try to make him a bit more of a hero this time around.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.  In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

‘Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery ” #83 in August, 1962.’

The film will hit UK cinemas October 30th.

Star Trek Into Darkness Clip – Should Kirk allow Spock to die?

23rd April 2013 By Tim Isaac

The first extended clip from Star Trek Into Darkness has arrived, which comes from early in the movie – indeed those who caught the IMAX prologue that was attached to The Hobbit will recognise much of the footage, although it’s been slightly tweaked for the final film.

It sees Spock stuck in a volcano and the only way to save him is to break the Prime Directive – which say Starfleet must not interfere in the development of more primitive civilisations. Will they break the rule to save Spock? Will he die? Why are Kirk and McCoy wearing shiny skin-tight suits?

We’ll be able to find out the answers when the film hits cinemas in the UK on May 9th and May 17th in the US.

Man Of Tai Chi Trailer – Take a look at Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut

22nd April 2013 By Tim Isaac

Will Keanu Reeves do a Ben Affleck and turn out to be a better director than he is an actor? We’ll get out first test of that when Man Of Tai Chi opens later this year. Now the trailer for that movie has arrived, which is a little light on plot, but certainly suggests Keanu has been channelling his inner Neo for plenty of fighting.

Indeed Keanu had plenty of Matrix help with the fights, as he hired Yuen Woo-Ping, who was the action choreographer on the Wachowski directed movies, to put the battles together. The movie is about a young martial artist (Tiger Hu Chen) who gets lured into an underground tournament in Beijing. He’s promised the chance for greatness by the scheming Reeves, but only if he survives the no rules, no referees and no-holds barred battles.

No release date has been set yet, but we should see it later this year.

Star Trek Into Darkness Viral Clip Online – Benedict Cumberbatch gets menacing

20th April 2013 By Tim Isaac

The vid below is halfway between a trailer and a clip, but whatever it is, it’s very effective in suggesting that Benedict Cumberbatch’s John Harrison is going to be one of the most formidable foes the crew of the Enterprise has ever had to face. Things are going to get personal as he faces off against Kirk and unleashes destruction against Starfleet.

Here’s the synopsis: Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘In summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

‘With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.’

The film is out May 9th in the UK and May 17th in the US. And as you may have noticed, there’s also a new Kirk character poster, which you can see above.
