Now You See Me – The First Four Minutes – Take a look at the magic-based thriller

9th May 2013 By Tim Isaac

Audiences weren’t that interested in magic with The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but director Louis Leterrier will be hoping for more from Now You See Me. Now the first four minutes of the movie have popped up online, so we can get a good taste for the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Louis Letterier’s movie sees ‘The Four Horsemen, a magic super-group led by the charismatic ATLAS (Jesse Eisenberg), perform a pair of high-tech magic shows, first astonishing audiences by robbing a bank on another continent, and then exposing a white-collar criminal and funneling his millions into the audience members’ bank accounts.

‘FBI Special Agent DYLAN (Mark Ruffalo) is determined to make the magicians pay for their crimes—and to stop them before they pull off what promises to be an even more audacious heist. But he’s forced to partner with ALMA (Melanie Laurent), an Interpol detective about whom he is instantly suspicious. Out of desperation he turns to THADDEUS (Morgan Freeman), a famed magic debunker, who claims the bank heist was accomplished using disguises and video trickery. One thing Dylan and Alma agree on is that the Horsemen must have an outside point person, and that finding him (or her) is key to ending the magicians’ crime spree. Could it be Thaddeus? Or Alma? Or could it really be…magic?

‘As pressure mounts and the world awaits the Horsemen’s spectacular final trick, Dylan and Alma race to find an answer. But it soon becomes painfully clear that staying one step ahead of these masters of illusion is beyond the skills of any one man—or woman.’

The movie is released May 31st in the US and July 3rd in the UK.

The Butler Trailer – Forest Whitaker watches history in the White House

8th May 2013 By Tim Isaac

The Butler could well be a fascinating film, and now we get our first taste of the movie, as a trailer has popped up online.

Lee Daniels’ film stars Forest Whitaker as real-life figure Eugene Allen, who rose through the ranks at the White House from 1952 through 1986, where he served eight different Presidents and eventually became the head butler. It gave him a unique vantage point on the civil rights struggle.

As the trailer shows, the movie has a starry cast including Robin Williams and Melissa Leo as Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan, Liev Schreiber as Lyndon B. Johnson, James Marsden and Minka Kelly as JFK and Jackie O and Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan, while the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Alex Pettyfer, Lenny Kravitz, Cuba Gooding Jr., Vanessa Redgrave, Jesse Williams, Mariah Carey, and David Oyelowo also star.

The movie is due out in the US in October, and is likely to be hoping for a strong Oscar run.

New White House Down Trailer – Channing Tatum takes on the terrorists

3rd May 2013 By Tim Isaac

Channing Tatum is getting his action movie on this summer in Roland Emmerich’s White House Down. He stars as a secret service agent who’s in the White House when a group of terrorists take over. He’s then tasked with guiding the President (Jamie Foxx) to safety. Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, Lance Reddick and Joey King also star.

The new trailer offers more plot than previous promos, but as you’d expect with Emmerich, when the sh*t hits the fan, things get very explosive and no world famous landmark is safe.

The film hits US cinemas this June, but won’t reach the UK until September 6th.
