Man Of Tai Chi Trailer – Get a fresh look at Keanu Reeves ass-kicking directorial debut

13th June 2013 By Tim Isaac

Keanu Reeves has turned director for The Man Of Tai Chi, and now we get a new trailer, so we can get a feel for whether being behind the camera is a good place for The Matrix actor.

Indeed Keanu had plenty of Matrix help with the fights, as he hired Yuen Woo-Ping, who was the action choreographer on the Wachowski directed movies, to put the battles together. The movie is about a young martial artist (Tiger Hu Chen) who gets lured into an underground tournament in Beijing. He’s promised the chance for greatness by the scheming Reeves, but only if he survives the no rules, no referees and no-holds barred battles.

The film will be out later this year.

Snowpiercer International Trailer – Fresh look at Bong Joon-ho’s English language debut

13th June 2013 By Tim Isaac

Snowpiercer marks Korean director Joon-ho Bong’s (The Host, Mother) English-language debut. The film is a dystopian sci-fi set on a ravaged Earth where the few human survivors are on the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe. However a revolution is brewing amongst the passengers inside.

The film has a great cast, although as you can see in the new character posters above and below, they’re not always completely recognisable. However the film follows Curtis (Chris Evans), Mason (Tilda Swinton), Gilliam (John Hurt), Wilford (Ed Harris), Namgoong Minsu (Kang-ho Song), Edgar (Jamie Bell), Tanya (Octavia Spencer), Andrew (Ewen Bremner) and Yona (Ah-sung Ko).

The film will be out later this year.

Diana Teaser Trailer – Naomi Watts channels her inner people’s princess

13th June 2013 By Tim Isaac

I can already hear the shrill voice of the Daily Express decrying the fact the film world would dare to make a movie about Diana, but they have (and hopefully it will remind people she was a human being, not a saint).

Olivier Hirschbiegel (Downfall) directed the film from a script by Steven Jeffreys, which focuses on a secret romance between the then-most famous woman in the world and a Pakistani heart surgeon (Naveen Andrews).

It all looks very Oscar-bait, and indeed it’ll be getting a release at the end of the year, ready for the awards season.

300: Rise Of An Empire Trailer – Ancient Greece gets hyperstylised once more

13th June 2013 By Tim Isaac

A lot of things happened in slow-motion in ancient Greece if the 300 franchise is anything to go by. If you’d though replacing Zack Snyder with Noam Murro for 300: Rise Of An Empire would result in a different visual style, this trailer is here to show it won’t – indeed if anything it’s even more like 300 than 300 was.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

‘”300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.’

Sullivan Stapleton stars, with a release set for March 2014.

New The Wolverine Trailer – A better look at Hugh Jackman’s latest mutant tale

13th June 2013 By Tim Isaac

The first trailers for The Wolverine largely concentrated on the action, but now a new one has a better feel for the plot of the movie, which sees Hugh Jackman’s Logan heading for Japan.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.’

The movie is out July 25th.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa Trailer – Steve Coogan brings the Norfolk DJ to the big screen

13th June 2013 By Tim Isaac

There are a lot of people waiting very excitedly for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, and now we get our first proper taste of where Steve Coogan’s creation will make a successful transfer to the big screen with a trailer.

Alan Partridge has had many ups and downs in his life – national television broadcaster, responsible for killing a guest on live TV, local radio broadcaster, and having a nervous breakdown in Dundee. His self-published book, ‘Bouncing Back’, was subsequently remaindered and pulped.

The film portrays the events of the greatest low-to-high-ebb spectrum in his life to date – specifically how he tries to salvage his public career while negotiating a potentially violent turn of events at North Norfolk Digital Radio.

The film hits UK cinemas on August 7th.
