Snowpiercer Animated Prequel – Introducing us to the world of the much-anticipated sci-fi flick

24th July 2013 By Tim Isaac

The first preview screenings of Snowpiercer took place during the last week, and the response was so ecstatic it’s pushed the film to the top of many people’s must-see list. Now an animated prequel to the movie has emerged, introducing us to the world of the movie and showing us how the Earth became the dystopian place the film explores.

Snowpiercer is set on a ravaged Earth where the few human survivors are a train (which gives the film its name) that travels around the globe. However a revolution is brewing amongst the passengers inside. The film has a great cast, following Curtis (Chris Evans), Mason (Tilda Swinton), Gilliam (John Hurt), Wilford (Ed Harris), Namgoong Minsu (Kang-ho Song), Edgar (Jamie Bell), Tanya (Octavia Spencer), Andrew (Ewen Bremner) and Yona (Ah-sung Ko) as they ride the train.

No release date is currently set, but it should be out later this year.

47 Ronin Trailer – Plus four new posters for the Keanu Reeves action film

24th July 2013 By Tim Isaac

47 Ronin is one of those movies where delays in its release have caused some to wonder if there have been problems with commercials director Carl Rinsch debut movie. However it’s now set for a prime Christmas release, suggesting Universal has some faith in it.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Keanu Reeves makes an explosive return to action-adventure in 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors. As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity.’

Now the first full trailer and a quartet of character posters for the movie have arrived, so take a look at those above and below.

New The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer – Katniss & Peeta head back to the arena

21st July 2013 By Tim Isaac

As expected, a new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was unveiled at Comic-Con, which was then immediately placed online so we can all take a look. It certainly looks dramatic, with rebellion fermenting in the districts and the Capitol trying to quell that by putting former champions back in the arena – including Katniss and Peeta.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.’

The film’s due out November 22nd.

Veronica Mars Movie Trailer – Take your first look at the TV character’s big screen adventure

21st July 2013 By Tim Isaac

Veronica Mars was never that popular on TV when it ran from 2004-2007, but those who liked it absolutely loved it, which resulted in a Kickstarter campaign to get a movie version made getting over 900,000 backers. That resulted in a quick greenlight and soon Kristen Bell and co. were on the set making the film.

Now they’ve used Comic-Con to reveal the first trailer for the film, and fans will be pleased to hear it’s a long one.

The promo is certainly fan-bait, showing this will retain the show of the TV show, while opening things up a bit, and offering interviews with the cast and crew to help those who don’t know the series, which follows the titular character, a young woman who becomes a bit of a private eye.

It’ll hit cinemas in 2014.

Andrew Garfield Does His Comic-Con Panel In Character – Spider-man himself shows up in San Diego

21st July 2013 By Tim Isaac

Andrew Garfield won over Comic-Con a couple of years ago when he showed up wearing a child-like Spider-man costume and talked about how much the character means to him. It seems he still absolutely loves what he’s doing – which has made him plenty of fans in the comic book community – as for The Amazing Spider-man 2’s Comic-Con panel this year, he did the first part in costume and character as Spidey himself.

Before he took to the stage, attendees saw footage where security wouldn’t allows him into the hall, saying “There are 10 more of you inside!” However he managed to get to the panel anyway, in costume, and kept his American accent up to be part of the event.

Garfield later returned as himself, but take a look at Spidey at Comic-Con below.

Kick-Ass 2 Extended Red-Band Trailer – Aaron Taylor Johnson & Chloe Moretz are back

20th July 2013 By Tim Isaac

I think it’s safe to say that they haven’t decided to sanitise Kick-Ass 2 to get a lower rating, as this new extended red-band trailer – released to coincide with the film’s appearance at Comic-Con – is certainly keen to show that the language and violence is very much intact. And it’s also looking a whole lot of fun.

It also gives us out best look yet at Jim Carrey’s Colonel Stars & Stripes, as well as Christoph Mintz-Plasse’s return as the rather S&M The Motherf**ka.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2.  After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol.  When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

‘When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave.  With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.  Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own.  With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

‘Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets,  the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad.  But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.’

Kick-Ass 2 hits cinemas in August.
