Naomi Watts was walking into a potential firestorm the moment she took the title role in Oliver Hirschbiegel’s Diana, although on the evidence of this new trailer, she may pull off the portrayal of the People’s Princess. Whether the film will be any good is yet to be seen though.
The film focuses on the time after Princess Diana’s divorce from Prince Charles and a secret romance between the then-most famous woman in the world and a Pakistani heart surgeon (Naveen Andrews), who the movie suggests she fell harder for than her more public relationships with James Hewitt and Dodi Fayed.
Those worrying about whether it will wallow in her death apparently don’t need to worry, as it’s said it solely focuses on this romance. Diana reaches UK cinemas on September 20th, but no US date is currently set.
Juno and Young Adult screenwriter Diablo Cody is turning director with Paradise, which is due to hit cinemas later this year. Now the first trailer for the movie has arrived.
We only first heard about a movie version of Shakepeare’s Cymbeline last week, when it was revealed that Ethan Hawke was set to star in Michael Almereyda’s adaptation. However, with the film set to start shooting in a couple of weeks time, there’s plenty more role to fill.

Robert Redford doesn’t make that many movies, but it looks like when he does he wants to hog all the screentime, as he’s pretty much the only person is All Is Lost. It also looks like he doesn’t want to learn a lot of lines, as if this trailer is anything to go by, the film isn’t exactly dialogue heavy – there’s just one word spoken in this promo.
