Having produced Pitch Perfect, Elizabeth Banks proved she had a deft touch as a director with the sequel, scoring a huge hit and a lot of laughs. Now Variety has officially confirmed that she’ll be back for the third movie, Pitch Perfect 3.
While earlier plans had been to hand the franchise to Hailee Steinfeld and a new set of actors, the success of Pitch Perfect 2 has resulted in a rethink, and Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow are all now set to return, with Kay Cannon once more writing the script.
There’s no news on the plot, although presumably it will see the now graduated Barden Bellas finding an excuse to sing together once more.
Banks is also attached to helm Red Queen and a Charlies Angels, but Pitch Perfect 3 is likely to come first, as Universal has already set a summer 2017 release date.
