Christian Bale may be living out his fast car dreams soon as Deadline reports that he’s set to reteam with his Public Enemies director, Michael Mann, for a film based on Brock Yates 1991 book, Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races.
Mann has apparently been working on the movie for 15 years, which ‘takes place in 1957, a year where passion, failure, success and death and life all collided’. That year is particularly significant for the Italian car-maker, as it was when Ferrari driver, Alfonso de Portago, was killed during the Mille Miglia race. The driver and nine spectators died when a tire blew out and his car careened into the roadside crowd.
It was a time when the rise of Enzo’s company was tempered because he was charged with manslaughter over the event.
It’s not clear when it will shoot, but it appear Mann is now on the lookout for the female lead.
