Almost from the moment Juan Antonio Bayona Spanish-language mystery The Orphanage was released in 2007, there’s been talk of a US remake, with Guillermo Del Toro attached to produce, as he did for the original. However despite much talk, things have been moving along very slowly, with the last we heard being back in January 2010 when Mike Pellington (Arlington Road) came on board to direct.
Now though it appears it’s time to think about casting, with Bloody Disgusting saying that Actress Amy Adams has entered into early discussions to star in the movie.
If she signs on, she would portray Laura, a young woman who returns to the orphanage where she was raised, to turn the facility into a home for mentally-disabled children. However her young son befriend a strange young boy who wears a creepy mask, and then he goes missing.
However despite this casting movement, there’s still no news on when The Orphange remake might actually go into production.
