Director Jason Reitman reuniting with Juno scribe Diablo Cody was bound to attract a good cast, and now it’s getting one, with EW reporting that with Charlize Theron already in place for the lead role, Patrick Wilson and Patton Oswalt are now circling the project.
It appears Wilson may be taking the role that was previously rumoured for Josh Brolin. The film is about a writer of young adult novels (Theron), who plots to reclaim her identity. Her campaign involves going back and rekindling a relationship with her high school boyfriend – who’s freshly married, is a new father, and wants no part of her. It’s the latter role Wilson is now being linked to, and to be honest, he’d probably make a better choice than Brolin, who was apparently approached, but never made a deal.
Oswalt meanwhile, who’s best known for his comedy work – and as the voice of Remy in Ratatouille – would play a self-hating man who was in love with Therons character in high school. Hopefully all the deals will come together soon (both Wilson and Oswalt are in negotiations, but neither has signed on the dotted line), as Wilson plans to start shooting in November.
