Terrence Malick certainly seems to be stepping up the pace of his filmmaking. There may have been 20 years between Days Of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, but seven years on he got to The New World, and now five years later we’re getting The Tree Of Life (which he’s just completed). And if all goes to plan, his next movie will be in cinemas in 2012.
As yet this planned movie has no name, but earlier this year it started to get a cast, including Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams and Olga Kurylenko. Now it appears that Bale is out, and Ben Affleck is stepping in to replace (and odd change, but who knows, perhaps it’ll work) him. The Wrap also reports that Rachel Weisz has signed onto the film.
There’s still no news on the plot through, or the characters these actors will play, other than vague suggestions about it being a romantic drama and a powerful love story. At the moment it looks like production is due to begin in Oklahoma in October.
