Today sees a few lesser know names signing up for films, so rather than having a separate story for each (with resulting cries of ‘who the hell is that?’), I thought I’d round them up.
First up it’s been announced that while in November Twilight star Ashley Greene (who plays Alice Cullen in the blockbuster franchise) was in talks to appear in the Dark Castle horror thriller, The Apparition, she’s now officially signed on to star in the film and will be joined by Gossip Girl actor Sebastian Stan. It certainly means that whether the film is any good or not, at least there will be some very pretty things to look at.
The film is about a young couple haunted by a supernatural presence that’s unleashed during a college experiment, with Stan portraying a post grad who’s trying to figure out his life. Variety reports that production is due to begin on the Todd Lincoln movie in February. It’s another of those efforts that’s allegedly inspired by real events, although forgive us if we take that with a pinch of salt.
On a less supernatural theme, Romarie DeWitt (United States Of Tara) has apparently signed on to appear in Earthbound. Only yesterday we reported that British actress Lucy Punch had signed up to appear opposite Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal in the film about a woman who discovers she had cancer and then meets the man of her dreams (sounds like great fun, doesn’t it?). However Variety describes DeWitt as playing Hudson’s best friend and confidante in the film, which is pretty the role The Hollywood Reporter said Punch would be playing. So does Hudson have two best friends, or will Variety and THR have to fall out over which is these actresses is actually playing the role? We should know soon as the film is due to begin shooting later this month.
