Holmes & Watson Trailer – Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly go comedy Sherlock

2nd October 2018 By Tim Isaac

There have been an awful lot of Sherlock Holmes movies over the years. Now we’re getting a new one that’s taking Conan Doyle’s detective in a comedy direction, with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly reteaming as Holmes and Watson.

They’re joined by a great cast including the likes of Steve Coogan, Ralph Fiennes, Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall, Hugh Laurie and Rob Brydon. However, the jury is still out on whether the film itself will be any good.

We do now have our first taste of the film though, as a trailer has been released, which you can take a look at below. The film will be in cinemas around Christmas. [Read more…]

Daddy’s Home 2 Trailer – Mel Gibson & John Lithgow join Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg

17th June 2017 By Tim Isaac

In the latest example of Hollywood’s love of making sequels to films nobody particularly wants, comes Daddy’s Home 2 – the follow-up to the 2015 movie that most people had already forgotten existed. To help ensure people turn up for this new film, Wahlberg and Ferrell will be joined by John Lithgow and Hollywood’s favourite racist, Mel Gibson.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Daddy’s Home 2, father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) have joined forces to provide their kids with the perfect Christmas. Their newfound partnership is put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho Dad (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s ultra-affectionate and emotional Dad (John Lithgow) arrive just in time to throw the holiday into complete chaos.’

The film should be out towards the end of the year. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Hugh Laurie & Ralph Fiennes Set To Join Will Ferrell In Holmes and Watson

8th January 2017 By Tim Isaac

Back in August it was revealed that Stepbrothers and Talladega Nights co-stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are reuniting for Holmes and Watson. Now they have some company, as Ralph Fiennes and Hugh Laurie have joined the movie.

Ferrell is set to be Sherlock Holmes in this comedy take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective, with Reilly as Watson. It’s not known who Laurie and Fiennes will be, although they will apparently ‘slip on the shoes of two beloved characters from the Holmes oeuvre’. That likely means one of them will be Moriarty, with the other either as Holmes’ brother Mycroft, or Inspector Lestrade.

Etan Cohen is writing and directing the movie, which is already shooting in London. The movie is due out in 2018.

Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly Reuniting For Holmes and Watson

17th August 2016 By Tim Isaac

will-ferrell-john-c-reillySherlock Holmes already holds the record for the literary character with the most on-screen adaptations. Now it looks like he might be getting another one, with time turning the famous detective more comic, as Deadline reports that Stepbrothers and Talladega Nights co-stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are reuniting for Holmes and Watson.

The movie will give Sherlock a PG-13 comic spin, with Ferrell and Holmes and Reilly as Watson. Previously it was going to be Ferrell and Sasha Baron Cohen, but after the Borat actor left, Sony quickly replaced him with Reilly, with plans to push is into production soon.

Etan Cohen, who directed Ferrell in Get Hard, is set to helm the movie. The movie will go into production at the end of the year, for release in 2017.
