Final New Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again Trailer – ABBA-tastic?

8th May 2018 By Tim Isaac

While it’s derided by many, Mamma Mia! is one of the most successful movie musicals ever made, grossing over $600 million. For a time it was the highest grossing movie ever in the UK, and the highest grossing movie directed by a woman worldwide.

As a result it’s getting a sequel that brings back most of the original cast – although as the trailer suggests there may have been a significant death – as well as taking us into the past and just how Meryl Streep’s character ended up having three men who could have been the father of her child.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Ten years after Mamma Mia! The Movie grossed more than $600 million around the world, you are invited to return to the magical Greek island of Kalokairi in an all-new original musical based on the songs of ABBA. With the film’s original cast returning and new additions including Lily James (Cinderella, Baby Driver), the musical comedy will open in UK cinemas on 20th July 2018.

‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, producers of the original film. Craymer is also the creator and producer of the worldwide smash-hit stage musical.

‘Ol Parker, writer of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, writes and directs the sequel from a story by Catherine Johnson, Richard Curtis and Parker. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus return to provide music and lyrics and serve as executive producers. Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Phyllida Lloyd, Richard Curtis and Nicky Kentish Barnes also serve as executive producers.

‘Reprising their roles from Mamma Mia! The Movie are Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep as Donna, Julie Walters as Rosie and Christine Baranski as Tanya. Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper reunite as Sophie and Sky, while Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Oscar® winner Colin Firth return to play Sophie’s three possible dads: Sam, Bill and Harry.

‘As the film goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present, James will play the role of Young Donna. Filling the roles of Young Rosie and Young Tanya are Alexa Davies (A Brilliant Young Mind) and Jessica Keenan Wynn (Broadway’s Beautiful). Young Sam will be played by Jeremy Irvine (War Horse), while Young Bill is Josh Dylan (Allied) and Young Harry is Hugh Skinner (Kill Your Friends).’

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again will be released in UK cinemas on 20th July 2018. [Read more…]

The Escape Trailer – Gemma Arterton looks for a new life in Paris

14th April 2018 By Tim Isaac

Synopsis: ‘A woman sets out to reclaim her life in this stirring, emotionally rich look at what it means to start over. Tara (Gemma Arterton), a housewife in suburban London, is living a life that is no longer hers: it belongs to her overworked, self-absorbed husband (Dominic Cooper); her young son and daughter; and the numbing routine of housework and childcare.

‘In desperate need of a change, Tara one day makes a bold decision. Armed with a one-way ticket to Paris, she leaves everything behind to rediscover herself in a new city—but walking out on your life isn’t so simple… Built around a remarkable central performance from Gemma Arterton, The Escape is a perceptive, deeply compassionate portrait of a woman on the rocky road to becoming herself.’

The film is out in the UK on July 27th and will hit the US ahead of that on May 11th. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper & More Get Warcraft Character Posters

7th April 2016 By Tim Isaac

warcraft-character-poster1-slideAfter a very long wait, the film version of Warcraft is almost upon us. The trailers we’ve had have tended to concentrate on the movie’s intricate fantasy world, so it’s worth releasing this new set of character posters, which introduce to some of the people and creatures we’ll get to meet.

Here’s the snyopsis: ‘The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another.  As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction.  From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

‘So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

‘Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Jones, the film starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production.’

The movie will be in cinemas on May 30th. [Read more…]

New Warcraft: The Beginning Trailer – Travis Fimmel & Ben Foster take us into a fantasy world

29th March 2016 By Tim Isaac

warcraft the beginning slide2They’ve sure taken a long time to bring us Warcraft: The Beginning. The film shot almost two years ago, but as this trailer shows, the reason for that is that it needed an awful lot of post-production and special effects work to create a convincing fantasy world, which wouldn’t seeming lacking in comparison the Peter Jackson’s take on Middle Earth.
