Synopsis: ‘John Krasinski’s big-hearted family comedy takes a touching look at the ties that bind. Krasinski plays John Hollar, a frustrated graphic novelist anxiously awaiting the birth of his baby with girlfriend, Rebecca (Anna Kendrick). When his mother, Sally (Margo Martindale), is diagnosed with a brain tumor, John flies back home, where denial runs deep in the family tree. While his loving but fractured family pulls together to prepare Sally for surgery, John takes a second look at the life he left behind.’
The movie is Krasinksi’s sophomore directorial effort following his 2009 adaptation of David Foster Wallace‘s Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. He also co-wrote The Promised Land, although Gus Van Sant directed that one.

Synopsis: ‘Ex-maid of honor Eloise (Anna Kendrick) – having been relieved of her duties after being unceremoniously dumped by the best man via text – decides to hold her head up high and attend her oldest friend’s wedding anyway. She finds herself seated at the ‘random’ table in the back of the ballroom with a disparate group of strangers, most of whom should have known to just send regrets (but not before sending something nice off the registry).
In the old days it was just book and TV shows that had a shot of being turned into movies, but now Hollywood has realised the pretty much anything is fair game, as long as it’s something that was popular at some point. Trolls, though, is an odd one, as there are plenty of kids around now whose parents are too young to remember the fuzzy haired figures’ heyday in the 70s. Admittedly though back then they were so popular that no youngster could expect to be seen as cool without a Troll pencil topper.
Ben Affleck has certainly made impressive turn-around. A few years ago his career seemed in danger of becoming a punchline, but since then he’s become an Oscar-winning director, turned in some really good performances and made a lot of people eat their words.
I didn’t think it was possible, but they’ve managed to make a trailer for a Zac Efron movie where he doesn’t take his shirt off at all! Instead it focuses on the comedy and the fact that along with Zac are the comedic talents of Adam Devine, Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick.
2016 appears to be the year of Zac Efron comedies that don’t look all that good, but which hope to lure people in on the promise that he’s been in gym a lot of working out hard and will show us the results. We’ve already had Dirty Grandpa, and this summer will bring both Bad Neighbours 2 and Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates. The last of those now has a trailer.
