As Pacific Rim wasn’t quite a big a hit as the studio had hoped, you’d have thought that if they were gonna make a sequel, they would do it quickly. However, they’ve taken their time, with the movie almost being a reboot, with most of the main characters getting replaced and a story that is reported to jump forward in time.
This time around, we won’t be following Charlie Hunnam’s Raleigh Becket, with the central role instead going to John Boyega. Now, thanks to a tweet that gives us our first official look at the actor in character, it’s been confirmed he will be called Pentecost – Stacker Pentecost to be precised, the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first movie.
Not a vast amount more is known about the plot, although it known Boyega will be a Jaeger pilot, and presumably will be using his giant robot to take on more giant monsters spilling out of the ocean. Steven S. DeKnight directs the movie, with Guillermo Del Toro just producing this time.
