Benedict Cumberbatch could either be brilliant or horribly miscast in Doctor Strange, but he certainly looks the part. Just after Christmas we got our first look at him as the Marvel hero, and now a new image of him in the role has dropped, as you can see above.
Cumberbatch will play Stephen Vincent Strange, a former neurosurgeon who becomes the next Sorcerer Supreme and primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Marvel Comics artist Steve Ditko created the character in 1963. Tilda Swinton will play Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One, while Chiwetel Ejiofor will appear as Baron Mordo, who also studies magic under the Ancient One in the comic books, before becoming Doctor Strange’s nemesis. Mads Mikelsen is also onboard to play an as yet unnamed villain, who EW says, is ‘a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect… he believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through.’
Scott Derrickson is directing the movie. It’ll be in cinemas November 2016. We should be getting a trailer soon.
