Warner Bros. is moving fast to complete the main cast of their planned female-led spin-off from Ocean’s 11 currently called Oceans Ocho. They already have Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett, with Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling recently said to be joining.
Now a few more great actresses are coming onboard, with THR reporting that Anne Hathaway, Rihanna and Awkwafina are all likely to sign on. That just leaves one of the the eight female thieves to be cast.
Rumours suggest Bullock’s character may be Danny Ocean’s sister, but no plot details have been released. Hunger Games helmer Gary Ross should start shooting the movie either later this year or early next year, with filming believed to be taking place in New York. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the Ocean’s 11 trilogy, will produce.
