When the first trailer for Gods Of Egypt debuted a few weeks ago, the main reaction was, ‘WTF’? That’s not just because it looked completely insane and weird, but also due to the fact all the Egyptian gods are played by white people (plus one token Black dude). The latter even resulted in the studio and director issuing an apology and saying they should have done better with the racial diversity.
While they may have admitted they should have done things differently, they’ve still got a movie to bring out, and so a new trailer has now arrived, which it has to be said suggests the film may actually have a few interesting things about it – although it’s still pretty nuts and white-washy. Take a look below.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘The survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek (Brenton Thwaites) undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world. In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful and vengeful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict.
‘As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation.’
