John Wick got a lot of praise, not necessarily for its plot, but for its almost comic book style and for the quality of its action. Indeed, it reminded many of why pure action has always been so popular. Now it’s coming back for a sequel.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.’

Keanu Reeves has been in dark action/thriller mode for the last couple of years, but now he’s heading into the courtroom to play a lawyer. The film also features Renée Zellweger, showing she’s now just returning to the world of movies for Bridget Jones movies.
Did John Wick mark the start of a bit of a Keanu Reeves renaissance? He’ll probably be hoping so as his star power has gone off the boil a little since the days of The Matrix. One of his next films is Exposed, which sees him getting a little hard-boiled, although the actual movie has more of a supernatural side than the trailer suggests, with one of the characters experiencing visions.
