Robin Wright In Talks For Key Role In Blade Runner Sequel

31st March 2016 By Tim Isaac

robin-wrightFor a few years now a sequel to Blade Runner has been in the works, which had the backing of both Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott. While Scott was attached to direct at one point, he’ll now only produce, with Denis Villeneuve helming.

Ryan Gosling has also been attached to star for quite a while, but it now seems they’re ready to move the project forwards, with THR reporting that Robin Wright is in final talks for a key role in the movie. There’s no info on the plot, although there are apparently three key female roles, with Wright nabbing on of them. Ford will also be back as Rick Deckard.

Wright’s involvement was dependent on her schedule, as she’s shooting Wonder Woman now, and also has the next season of House Of Cards to squeeze in. However, it looks like they’ve sorted things out and she will be ready to shoot the Blade Runner sequel when it starts filming in July.

Indiana Jones 5 Announced For 2019 With Harrison Ford & Steven Spielberg Returning

15th March 2016 By Tim Isaac

Indiana-JonesEver since Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull there have been rumblings about another film outing for Indy (with many hoping another movie would be made just so the franchise didn’t go out with its underwhelming last installment). There have even been suggestions that Harrison Ford only agreed to make The Force Awakens if Disney promised to make Indy 5.

Now the House Of Mouse has announced that’s exactly what they’re doing, as it’s been revealed that Indiana Jones 5 will be released on July 19th, 2019. There’s no mention of George Lucas though, who was intimately involved in the earlier films and came up with all the stories. As with Star Wars, it’s likely he gave up creative control when he sold Lucasfilm, and if he’s involved at all it will be in a reduced capacity.

There’s also no mention of Shia Labeouf, and it seems unlikely he’ll be back as Mutt (to may people’s relief). Nor is there any info about the plot.

Here’s the full statement from Disney:

SPIELBERG AND FORD REUNITE AS INDIANA JONES RETURNS TO THEATERS JULY 19, 2019

Indiana Jones will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series. Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones was introduced in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark – one of AFI’s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time – and later thrilled audiences in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The four films have brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Cinema Review)

Our Score

“This will begin to make things right.” The first words spoken out loud in The Force Awakens are uttered by a minor character and are clearly not meant to be about the Star Wars franchise in general. But the subtext is clear. For most fans, the three Star Wars prequels – The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith – were to varying degrees cartoonish, often boring disappointments. Ten years on from the last and best of these, Star Wars newcomer J.J. Abrams wants us to know it will be different this time. And it is. The Force Awakens really does live up to the new hype.
