Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer – Taron Egerton is back & meeting his American counterparts

26th April 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kingsman was a bigger success than most had expected. It was more than enough to get it a sequel, which will be released later this year. Along with the return of British agents Taron Egerton and Colin Firth (yes, he will return), we will be introduced to the Statesmen, the US version of the Kingsmen.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Kingsman: The Secret Service” introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…

Alongside the returning Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, will be newcomers Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, with Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges [Read more…]

Colin Firth Joins Disney’s Mary Poppins Sequel

20th October 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colin-firthWhile Disney doesn’t plan shooting its planned musical Mary Poppins sequel until early next year, but it’s been busy building the cast to ensure it can have the best bunch of actors it can find. The latest to join is Colin Firth, according to Variety.

He will star alongside Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer as a grown-up Michael and Jane Banks, Hamilton’s Lin Manuel Miranda as lamplighter Jack (the equivalent of the Dick Van Dyke role) and Meryl Streep as Poppins’ cousin Topsy. Firth meanwhile will be William Weatherall Wilkins, president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank.

The follow-up will be set in the 1930s and follow Michael and Jane Banks, as well as their children, after a major event takes place in their lives. That event results in the return of the magical Mary Poppins, who teams up with Jack to help the family.

Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash) will write the songs, with David Magee penning the script, based on PL Travers other Poppins stories. Rob Marshall is set to direct, with a December 2018 release date set.

New Bridget Jones’s Baby Trailer – Renee Zellweger doesn’t know if Colin Firth or Patrick Dempsey’s the dad

28th June 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bridget-Jones-baby-poster-slideSynopsis: ‘Oscar® winners Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are joined by Patrick Dempsey for the next chapter of the world’s favorite singleton in Bridget Jones’s Baby.  Directed by Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary), the new film in the beloved comedy series based on creator Helen Fielding’s heroine finds Bridget unexpectedly expecting.

‘After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan.  Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new.  For once, Bridget has everything completely under control.  What could possibly go wrong?

‘Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not.  In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.

‘The much-anticipated third installment of the Bridget Jones’s franchise welcomes fellow Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson to the cast.  Longtime collaborators Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films produce alongside Debra Hayward.  Universal Pictures will distribute Bridget Jones’s Baby in North America and select international territories.’

Genius Trailer – Colin Firth plays the man who helped discover Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald & Thomas Wolfe

18th March 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

geniusGenius has been in the works for a long time – Colin Firth first attached himself to it back in 2012 – but it’s only now that it’s in the can and the first trailer for the movie has arrived. While a movie about a book editor doesn’t sound that interesting, as it’s about a man who helped the likes of Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald get published, it’s certainly got potential.

The film doesn’t concentrate on either of those authors though, instead focusing on the birth of Thomas Wolfe as a literary force.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award-nominated screenwriter JOHN LOGAN (Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo, Skyfall) and acclaimed, Tony Award-winning director MICHAEL GRANDAGE in his feature film debut, comes Genius, a stirring drama about the complex friendship and transformative professional relationship between the world-renowned book editor Maxwell Perkins (who discovered F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway) and the larger-than-life literary giant Thomas Wolfe. Based on the biography “Max Perkins: Editor of Genius” by A. SCOTT BERG, Genius stars COLIN FIRTH as Perkins, JUDE LAW as Wolfe, NICOLE KIDMAN as Aline Bernstein, a costume designer sharing a tumultuous relationship with Wolfe, LAURA LINNEY as Louise Perkins, Max’s wife and a talented playwright, GUY PEARCE as F. Scott Fitzgerald and DOMINIC WEST as Ernest Hemingway.’

The film will be out later this year. [Read more…]

Fresh Look At Renee Zellweger, Patrick Dempsey & Colin Firth In Bridget Jones’s Baby

22nd December 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bridget-jones-baby-ew2-slideBridget Jones is coming back to the world of film, although due to Hugh Grant deciding not to return, it’ll be a different story to the one told in Helen Fielding’s books. Instead of Grant we’ve got the addition of Patrick Dempsey alongside the returning Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth.

Back in October we got our first pic of Zellweger in the third Bridget movie, and now a few more have arrived via EW, giving us a further taste of the movie.

Things won’t be too different in the movie despite the lack of Hugh Grant, as once more she’s stuck between two attractive men, but the main issue this time is that she’s pregnant and isn’t 100% sure which of them is the dad. However, despite being preggers, we can expect Bridget to once more be a bit clumsy and prone to fnding herself in awkward situations.

Take a look at the new pics below. The movie will arrive in cinemas next autumn. [Read more…]
