Between the abundance of found footage films and British rom-coms out there, you'd be given a pass for steering clear of The Wedding Video as if it's got a flesh eating virus. Still as stupidly predictable as it undoubtedly is, it's kept afloat due to top performances from leads Rufus Hound and Lucy Punch, and a smattering of genuinely funny gags.

Likeable lout Raif (Hound) has been asked by his highly-strung brother Tim to be best man at his wedding to the wealthy and seemingly very proper Saskia (Punch) – who Raif remembers as the wild-eyed rebel from his school days. As everyone prepares for the high-profile nuptials, Raif films everything as his present to the happy couple, spending a lot of time with Saskia in the process.

Now you can guess where things go from there – the plot is about as surprising as finding jam in a doughnut. Still it's merely a generic framework in which Hound can crack wise like a scathing Simon Pegg and Lucy Punch can prove herself as a surprisingly effective leading lady – particularly due to her willingness to make herself look a bit of a tit. With a convincing display of chemistry between them, it makes for pretty enjoyable, frequently funny viewing. Still, it's not without its flaws, while the gags do come in abundance, it's hardly bladder bursting stuff.

As for the disc itself, all you get is a few cast and crew interviews and a heap of trailers for other films. Not exactly jaw-dropping stuff. All in all though, it's a disc that's well worth an hour and a half of your time.

Overall Verdict: A reasonably funny and enjoyable rom-com bolstered by solid performances from Lucy Punch and Rufus Hound. Not amazing but not bad at all.

Muser Avatar RE: The Wedding Video (DVD)

This is a fun, upbeat comedy featuring a very comical cast of actors. The end is very predictable but it is still amusing to watch. The movie itself is in the style of a home made video and the actors are a blast. Lucy Punch is hilarious as per usual and Michelle Gomez is perfect as the role of wedding planner. Definitely worth a watch
