Thanks to the success of The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman, Chris Hemsworth is just about the hottest new actor around at the moment. He's now attached to star in the hot property In the Heart of the Sea, according to Deadline.
Charles Leavitt wrote the script, adapted from Nathanial Philbrick's non-fiction book of the same name, which is based on the true events that inspired Herman Melville to write Moby Dick. The story revolves around a Nantucket whaling ship that was destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820. Only eight crew members were rescued alive, after being lost at sea for 90 days.
The project has been in development for several years, with directors such as Barry Levinson and Edward Zwick attached to direct at one point or another, although current no one is at the helm. There's no studio currently attached, but DreamWorks reportedly has the inside track on landing the project, although there are still other studios vying for it.
